A few months ago I found a lump, right near the edge of my nipple. It is movable, but hard. Kind of rubbery actually. I was worried, since my grandma and great grandma both suffered from breast cancer. My doctor sent me in for an ultrasound which came back with the results that I had dense breasts but no discreet abnormalities. Well about a couple weeks ago I noticed that the top part of my breast, in front of my armpit is much more swollen than the other side. My other doctor said it was a pulled muscle and told me to come back In a couple weeks. Should I be worried??
Hi Moorem, I’d be concerned too ref your hard, mobile, rubbery lump.
I don’t want to scaremonger, but my 2nd BC was initially misdiagnosed as harmless cysts - “nothing to worry about” said the ultrasound doctor. Were it not for the fact that I was only 8 mnths following mastectomy, and still under my consultant, who wasn’t convinced by the ultrasound and had me in for biopsies, it may have remained UNdiagnosed. Turned out to be another Primary tumour !! Ultrasound scans don’t give a very accurate differential diagnosis
Ref your armpit - do you remember pulling your arm muscles??
I’d ask for a second opinion and mammogram if I were you. Take it from there.
