Countryside Walk

Hi All,

Been a very worrying time lately, get my results tomorrow…would like to plan a nice day out over the bank holiday week-end for me and my partner to go walking with the dogs and perhaps have a picnic (weather permitting). Dogs are quite good on recall but I would like to go somewhere that they can run free and I don’t need to worry what’s round the next corner so we can have a really chill out day, do you happen to know of any walks like this in the Matlock/Bakewell area - I like Derbyshire countryside?

Hi Summerdays,

You’ve got it spot on, walking Derbyshire has seen me through some pity difficult times.
I will say Don’t go down Monksdale, its quite dangerous especially in wet weather as the boulders are slippy.

Froggatt edge (Culver) is quire doable but I am not sure about it for the dogs. I love the walks around Over Haddon, crossing the bridge watching the trout swim below. Avoid Dovedale it will be far too crowded with what I call the Dovedale Court Shoe Ladies (Sorry you ladies who go walking in court shoes!). If you need to walk on the flat then walking the Cromford Canal is quite pleasant with a tea room at the Junction. The Tissington Trail is also flat but again you have to dodge the cyclists and it won’t suit the dogs. Both Matlock and Bakewell are surrounded by walks, if you google them I am sure you will see some walks. I am near Buxton over the bank holiday, I will be walking wearing my headscarf and red coat if wet maybe our paths will cross.

Cheers

Carol

Hi again summerdays,
pity should read pretty, quire should read quite and apart from that I forgot to say more importantly, good luck for tomorrow.

Hi, thanks for your suggestions - if I end up near Buxton I will look out for you! Today has suprisingly gone really quickly and I actually feel quite calm. Determined to enjoy the week end no matter what! One of my friends suggested doing a ‘Come Dine With Me for Under a Tenner’ for a bit of fun as we are always having meals at each others houses and she’s doing the first one on Saturday night - should be a laugh.

Hope you enjoy your bank holiday week end too
