I have been offered the next Spring booster. I finished chemotherapy in January, but I am still having Herceptin injections every three weeks.
When would be the best time to have the booster? Immediately before or after a dose of Herceptin, or doesn’t it matter?
Hello scientistamafier
Thank you for posting.
A spring booster is available for some people, including those at high risk from COVID-19.
Because covid vaccines are not live vaccines, they cannot harm you when your immunity is reduced. This makes them safe to have whilst having cancer treatment such as Herceptin
However, when you can have the spring booster may depend on your individual circumstances. We would suggest you speak with your treatment team. They will know your particular risk and can tell you when the best time to have the vaccine will be.
You can find more information about the covid 19 sprig 2024 booster here.
