CPR... but

Hi.

I am really struggling at the moment. I’m 33. I was diagnosed with stage 3 TNBC lymph node involvement September last year.

I had 12 weekly paclataxel/ carboplatin, 4 E.C and pembro every 3 weeks throughout.
I had my final MRI to prepare for surgery but everything has been up in the air every since. No one seems to fully understand whats happened but my breast and lymph nodes has had CPR. But the mri flashed something on my breast bone… i was then sent for a bone scan which showed subtle metobolic activity. They now need me to do a PET to get a clearer idea. This cant be done until 27th as it has to be 6 weeks after my last chemo.

I just cant get my head around how all my scans prior to chemo where clear and the chemo worked as it should so why is this happening?

Im floored, and terrified and the waiting around awful. I was just getting my head around surgery but I have no clue whats going on now.

Hi leftyb

Thanks for posting.

You might find it helpful to call our helpline. The helpline team have time to listen, talk things through and signpost you to additional support and information if necessary. The number is 0808 800 6000.

It’s understandable that you are feeling floored and terrified. Particularly as you have to wait to have the PET scan. It sounds as though the treatment has worked well for the breast and lymph nodes and it’s not uncommon for there to be unexpected findings on scans that need checking before proceeding with planned treatment.

Talking to someone who has had a similar experience can often be helpful. Our Someone Like Me service can match you with a trained volunteer who’s had a similar experience to you. You can be in touch with your volunteer by phone or email and they can share their personal experiences to answer your questions, offer support or simply listen to how you are feeling.

You can ring the Someone Like Me team on 0800 138 6551 or email them at someone.likeme@breastcancernow.org, so they can then match you to your volunteer.
