Hi I am 33 and have only realised I had critical illness along with life insurance. I initially had a diagnosis of high grade dcis and am recovering from a recent mastectomy. Today I have had the breast tissue histology and found 90mm of high grade dcis but also an element of invasive Ductal ca. Does anyone have a similar experience? Also with having a diagnosis of IDC will this entitle me to a pay out? I also need more surgery as margins not clear.
Many thanks
Yes, the element of invasive cancer means that you can make a claim. Give the company a ring and they will send you a claim form.
Hi, just wanted to add to the post below, I don’t have critical illness cover but my husband was diagnosed with grade 3 rectal cancer last year and his cover was with Legal and General they were amazing. You get allocated a specific person in their specialised department so they are very empathetic, all we had to do was send in the histology report and they contacted the surgeon and our GP and within 2 weeks the money was in the bank. My only advice would be give the surgeons secretary the heads up that the communication will be coming and your GP and explain how important it is they reply soonest. I found both were aware of the procedures. Good luck
Any diagnosis indicating invasive cancer will be covered no matter how small. I called my insurance company gave details over the phone and then signed a very simple form. The money was in my account within three weeks a and I am now mortgage free!! I was amazed it was so simple. Good luck, but don’t delay in that first call I believe there is a fairly short time scale from the date of diagnosis so be sure to tell them the date invasive cancer was diagnosed.
