CT results always given by consultant?

Hi all

I know all hospitals work differently but wondering if I can figure this out via other people’s experiences.

My mum has grade 3 BC with lymph node involvement (1 palpable and confirmed C5 by FNA, unsure about rest). She is due to start chemo on 1/12/14. She has CT scan last Friday 21/11/14. When I asked oncologist at last appt when she would get CT results she said 'we’ll see your mum
before her chemo anyhow". I assumed she’d be given an appt. She has her breast and lymph MRI (pre chemo standard) tomorrow and a pre op assessement on 29th (2 days before chemo). She asked BCN about results and said they should be back by her pre op assessment and if not then they’d chase them up.
I’m confused as surely a consultant gives these results? Therefore is it normal to see a consultant on day of breast MRI or pre op assessment (which is a Saturday). I can’t see how they proceed without them as I thought the chemo plan may need to change depending upon results.
Thanks.
