CT scan afterwards

I had my most recent scan on Monday. It was in a private unit in the hospital carpark which the local Trust has been using to keep on top of the demand. It is the second time there; I live just under an hour away but am lucky to have my husband to take me. They finally managed to get the cannula in after nine attempts; I have very small veins! Since then I have been in bed feeling light headed and nauseous; today I have had very dark urine!
I am unsure if this has been a reaction to the trauma or allergy to the dye; has anyone else had a similar experience?

Hi Mary , I have difficult veins too - it’s stressful! Could just be all the stress making you feel off but may be worth checking out with your GP or Oncologist?  I had reactions to the CT dye twice - first time sick and dizzy , second time hot and itchy .Second time radiographers called a doctor . They told me I shouldn’t have dye again as reactions can become more significant 3rd time round . Definitely worth reporting .Apparently they can see organs without the dye just not quite as clear . Hope you feel better soon . Jill x

Hi Mary

When I have blood tests or scans they always have trouble getting the needle into my vein. I have the dye too but they always tell me to drink 1.5 litres of water before hand.  I feel light headed, dizzy, sick following drinking large amounts of water. Can’t comment on the urine.

I hope you feel better today, take care.

Hi . I am always very sick after I have a C T scan with contrast, had a word with my oncologist about it but she said they wouldn’t be able to see it properly. I am seriously thinking about not having the contrast and I also have trouble with the Cannula my vein burst because it was put in wrong I was so I’ll last time I had it that I asked them to get a Doctor but she said”we don’t have Doctor’s in Radioligy. Good Luck.
