CT Scan - what does it show ?

Would a Ct scan of the body show up any bone mets that might be there. I know cts concentrate on the organs but would it show up any thing else ?

Don’t quote me, but I think it’s soft tissue.

A CT scan of the body i.e chest/abdomen CAN show up bony metastatic disease. However the scan will be done primarily to show chest and abdo contents and the images are set to show these areas.Alterations to the scan settings may be required to show the bones in fine detail.

Hi beardie,

I had a bone scan to check my bones. I’ve had several CT scans and an mri, to check organs. Ask your breast care nurse if you’re concerned. All the scans were painless and quick. Hope this helps. Karen x
