Would a ct scan of the pelvis/abdomen and chest show up bone mets in the spine/pelvic region etc. I know that a ct is better for looking at the organs i just wondered if there were bone mets there would they be seen on the ct scan.

Hi there I had a separate bone scan done and a ct scan. I thought the ct scan was just for internal organs. Hopefully someone will come along shortly and answer your question properly.

I hope you will get an answer from your medical team, but my experience was that I had both, first the CT and then the bone scan. When the CT scan results came through my nurse rang me, relieved, to say that it was clear and explained although the scheduled bone scan would still go ahead, the CT scan would probably have shown up any bone abnormalities. Indeed it was clear.

i also had a separate scan for bones, it was called Nuclear meds scan. i had the bone scan 1st and then CT, but i think that just was the way the appointments were available

Mine didn’t show up on the CT scan. The report just said ‘unspecific changes’. I then had a PET scan which did show them up.

My bone mets were discovered during a bone scan (i.e. nuclear) and show up on my CT scans as well. I was told that a bone scan is often used for diagnosis whereas CT scans can be used for follow up scans. My bone mets are checked using CT scans.
