I’m 7 years post surgery from a left breast mastectomy. Follow up treatment was chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I’m still taking tamoxifen. I’ve had quite a few moles appear and have been assured this is normal due to the radiotherapy. I have one nodule on my abdomen below my left breast which until recently was flesh coloured but has now turned red. I just assumed this was another mole but now I’m worried that it could be secondary breast cancer of the skin. I’d appreciate any advice you could give. Thanks.
Khadija.
Hi I haven’t experienced that problem myself . I have had some moles checked lucky they removed them but no cancer ,I would get them checked out just for peace of mind Xxx
Hi Khadija,
Thanks for posting.
It is understandable that you are feeling anxious, it is very common to feel this way even years after a breast cancer diagnosis. If you notice a new nodule, or a change in an existing one as you have recently, as @charlottebee says, it’s important for you to have it checked. A secondary breast cancer, or a local recurrence can appear as a change in the skin, but there are other, more common causes for this to happen. It’s important to be sure and your treatment team or GP will be able to advise you on this.
