Hi I’ve just ordered the Daniel Field scalp cooling kit. Has anyone used this recently?
I did last July
I haven’t a clue if it worked or not but saved 60ish% of my hair
The chicken fillet thing they give you in the starter pack (and advice on field bandage) helped me not lost my crown for sure
Most of my hair loss was thinning bar a bald patch I could hide and hairline loss
It is quite a regime to get stuck into but I kept with it
Good luck
Thats great to know thanks, yeah I’ve already had 1 session of chemo and I don’t think the cold cap touched the top of my head so even that in itself should help! I have 7 more sessions more to go and the pack should arrive for next one so fingers crossed!
I started with the kit on the 4th session, no chicken fillet. Only did 11 due to infection. Nurses couldn’t believe how much hair I had when I finished but my hair was thick to begin with. Could have been the products, but I will never know for sure. Good Luck
Thats great news! 11 is still more than me as i only have 8 cycles but its dose dense so think that means higher doses, really hope it works for me too!
Hi, I am using this and i am on session 4 of 12 weekly paxlitaxol and so far have not lost any hair at all. Obviously i cant confirm if it is because of this vut it certainly is not doingbany harm.
Thats great, hope it continues! Hoping my kit arrived tomorrow as my next session is Friday
I just finished 4 x TC chemo using Daniel’s products and also feel that the chicken fillet / field bandage technique helped keep the cap really snug and meant I now have around 50/60% of my hair left. It’s thinned all over and I have one bigger bald patch, but I can cover it up with the rest of my hair or wear a scarf / cap. Hope it works for you too!
Hi ive see you bought the cold cap cooling kit? Do you think its worked? Ive got my second chemo on Friday and i will be using the cold cap boosters but just worried how much you have to wash yoir hair afterwards. Did you do that
Hi, unfortunately I wasn’t able to tell, started on my 2nd chemo too and by that time, i had hair loss even though i cold capped. I continued to cold cap and use the Daniel field products till after the 4th one. I felt awful during the sessions and the cold cap only added to it and anything that reminded me of it would make me feel sick so everytime i felt cold or smelled mint ( the products have a very strong mint smell) it took me back to sitting in that chair and felt horrible so decided to at least stop that part. I still lost a bit of hair during the first 4 but I was on a dose dense regime and when i stopped the cold cap, i completely lost all hair by about the 6th one. I don’t know whether this was due to stopping or not. Theres a spray you use which is fine but the rinsing of the hair with the solution was a bit of a faff but i just stood in the shower and poured it over my head so doable once you get used to it. Hope it goes much better for you x
I am nearly a year out now from finishing and thanks to Daniel Field and the cap I didn’t have to tell anyone about my diagnosis except close friends and family. I have long hair and while I shed about 60% I managed.
I think the fillet was very nb as I really lost most where the cap didn’t go and unlike many people I saw on the wards they all seemed to lose on the top or crown where I didn’t lose much at all there. I was on ACT and this is the worst chemo for hair loss apparently. I did lose more on taxol compared to the AC which was unusual but it may have been the build up.
For me it was so much less traumatic to be able to keep my hair and while it’s still not back to full strength I am getting there. I also really liked his face serums and am still using them.
One tip is to order fragrance free as I couldn’t stomach the menthol smell as I found the cap very tough re the pressure on my head and feeling sick. Eventually my oncologist recommended a zanax to get through the sessions. That helped as the length of time with the cap was very long and especially on taxol.
Wishing you the very best.
Any questions happy to help.
Can’t remember if I posted already but I feel DF really helped me exp the fillet thing
I kept about 60% of my hair (mainly even thinning / around the ears & neck where the cap didn’t fit)
Cold capping is not fun and does make the whole chemo time longer but it was worth it for me
Defo take a lorazepam and painkiller !
You do get sick of the whole thing by the end so be kind to yourself if it’s not for you x
