Wondering how common the pain and darkening of nails on my toes and fingers will last. How do I proceed to care for them now, after the treatment with Taxol.
Hello resilience
Thanks for posting.
Some chemotherapy drugs such as paclitaxel (Taxol) can cause changes to the finger and toe nails. It is less common than some of the other side effects. This usually improves over time as the nails grow out. Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support have information about nail care.
As this is painful do contact your treatment team or GP. They can assess the changes and rule out infection as this can sometimes happen.
You may also want to see what might have helped other women who had this side effect. You can post on this section of our forum and here are the details of all our services.
