Darling buddies from May - moving on

Well, it certainly is chilly, brrrrrr. Very frosty this morning - but at least the sun is shining. Lorraine - get that heating on!!! You are at home all day and I’m sure you will all appreciate it. I’m the stingey one in our house but even I have got it on now! Hope the scan is OK when you get it and also the drain is OK - I think you had that done again? And BTW, we do have a dishwasher! Not just me! But there was alot of other clearing up to do and OH usually does it as I do all the cooking but I couldn’t ask him on his birthday could I?
Lily - let’s hope there are pups in there otherwise you will be on tenterhooks forever;-) Glad it’s nearly half term for you - a well deserved break from what you’ve said. And I’m glad the rellies problems seem to be getting sorted even though the eye ‘bit’ made me (us all?) squeamish.
P - still hoping to see YD so will keep an eye (oops, there’s that word again) on flights etc. I will be wrapping up warm I can tell you! I’ve managed to be fairly warm up to now and have not gone into boots and tights mode but I think today is the day! It got so cold yesterday, after quite a mild start, that I needed my puffa jacket on. Have a good time (no Lily style winks from me!) with Mr P and I hope your Mum and sister get out to see you as well.
Lisa - hope your trip was good, I can’t remember how long you were there for and that Val is enjoying her time away as well. Bev - hope you are OK and have set aside a whole day to read our ‘little’ posts once you are back online.
I had a visit to the hospital dentist yesterday as I had small problem with the tooth that was extracted earlier this year. My own dentist thought it was a piece of bone protruding which scared me as I am aware of the necrosis of the jaw that bone mets ladies on bisphosphonates can get (well, anyone on bisphos actually) So I went in expecting to get another appointment to sort it but he said ‘open wide’, saw it was a bit of bone fragment and took it out then and there! Surprisingly no pain whatsoever but I guess the nerve was nowhere near it. A bit of blood and that was it! Simples. At least that’s a weight off my mind and also it’s not irritating me as I could feel it with my tongue all the time. Other than that a nice day off midweek to catch up on a few things and see a friend in the evening for birthday drinks. Walking back from the pub was so cold but it was a lovely clear night and we could see the stars and moon, which was causing so many shadows it was like daytime!
Have a good day everyone, wrap up warm - and don’t get piles Lily - you and your heated seats!
Nicky xx

Wow lots to catch up on later… just to let you know Im back in the land of cold weather lol! I went on Friday and due back Monday late evening, well flight issues on way over broken plane, and torrential rain, so when sun came out on monday after a wee guilty hour we thought sod it life too short, stayed till last night in the glorious sun. Boggy eyed at work today but had a lovely very expensive time. no hunky men to bring back, just window shopped whilst sitting with a large wine!! goss later, nothing much to tell though but chilled out (apart from cough). Catch up with posts later

Ciao Bella x

brrrrrhh, its so cold! told hubby hes got to sort heating out. one problem is cos were out a lot, and he doesnt like heating an empty house. had some bubble and squeek for tea really enjoyed it, didnt fancy veg but had none for days, so i thought id try it in another way. my youngest wasnt happy till i tried his chocolate mousse hed made it was very nice, but sometimes we have to pretend dont we, us mums, we protect their feelings, but they soon tell us dont they?

just going to pick up water tabs, probably wont start them till morning, dont want to be up all night. already have to get up few times.got up at 4 this morning, had a cuppa and doughnut, (would you believe it?)but fell back to sleep till about 7. my friend whos also on steriods is eating raw garlic all the time at the moment. yak yak.
love to you all god bless x

Hi,
Lorraine no-one wants a friend who is eating garlic oh yuk! I tell Victor off if he does but we usually both eat it so we cannot smell it. Doughnuts at that time, now that is more like it yum. Just put the heating on and tell him you need it!
Lisa the trip sounds fab and tell us the full story.
Nick glad you solved the tooth problem more easily than you thought. Bad girl for not telling us you had that worry! Bet the visit with your friend was much more fun. Yes I am ready for half term even though it will be with books :frowning:
Must go
Lily x

Hi
Lorraine - I had water tablets a few years back and definitely make sure you take them way before you want to go out! About an hour after I had them in the morning I was desperate! I really had to plan around them as I was taking my girls to school at the time, whereas you may cope better as you won’t have to get up and go by a certain time! As to the doughnut at 4am - what are you like  However my OH would have been round like a flash if he’s known about the bubble and squeak!
Lily - I always have some worry or another - it goes with the territory
Hi Lisa - wow, how lovely to spend more time in Milan - you lucky thing. I’m sure you and your girls would have had a great time and sod the expense, as the advert says the experience is ‘priceless’ LOL
Have a great weekend everyone, we’re off to Paris very early tomorrow morning and hope the rioting little blighters calm down over the weekend! My YD’s flat is just off the main student area but is still close to the Sorbonne where there were problems yesterday - yipes! Just as long as the transport is still running and we are not stranded at the airport!
Will catch up on Monday
Nicky xx

Have a great time in Paris Nicky. There was a parade here in Bordeaux and we had to cross the road through them all. They were not threatening and stopped to let us cross…mind you my husband was using crutches! Weather here lovely and sunny again. Not sunbathing weather but great for the soul…and mood. Hugs to all at home. Val XX

Hi all,

sorry I have been on the missing list for so long I have been computer less and life has been very strange without access to one. I have also had a grotty cold the past two weeks and managed to damage my eye by removing my contact lens that was stuck too tightly to my very dry eyes (due to the tamoxifen) and managed to remove parts of my cornea with it aghhhhh! I just didn’t know that was possible. Anyway the lenses went straight into the bin and I am using a very thick ointment to make it all well again.

I have my daughter home at the present time as we have a family wedding tomorrow which will be lovely to have everyone together.

My friend had her second chemotherapy treatment today but has been told she will be neededing many months of herceptin too.

I will read through as many of the posts as I can after this weekend and have a good catch up but just wanted to touch base with you all and I hope all is well with you.

love Bev x

Sorry to hear about yoyr eye Bev. Will it repair itself or will you need to go to the eye hospital? love Val

Hi,
glad to have you back Bev, even if it is with another injury! You’re not safe to be out on your own! The eye sounds horrible. Ed’s partner had bad flu and got an eye ulcer throught it and has the thick cream to try to reduce the scar. They say he will always have it now and any illness or being run down will make it flare up. Hope ypurs picks up better than his has. Is it back to glasses then? I have never tried lenses as just wear glasses to drive and for distances but I think I am approaching the need for glasses more often. Have a fab time at the wedding. What are you wearing? Herceptin is a year isn’t it? A long slog but people don’t seem to find it the same as chemo so maybe that helps a little, but so long to keep going :frowning: Send her our best wishes.
Val is everyone on the continent then? I feel like I missed the boat for a group trip or something lol. Keep soaking up those French vibes to keep you going through the scottish winter and enjoy your visit.
Nick what a worry to get there and back and thinking about YD in the middle of it all.Stranded in Paris, well I can think of many worse places! Enjoy your catch up.
Still no sign of puppies and I will have to ring soon or I will burst. I just hope nothing has gone wrong :frowning:
Half term now hooray and forgot to take many books in so forced to take it easy apart from a large number of reports booo. By the way I heard I have my M.A. which I received a grade B for. No surprise to miss the distinction but pretty pleased that it didn’t drop to C. Also got my back pay for my promotion so a good end to the day.
Lorraine are you planning some trips this half term? I am going shopping big time.
Have fun
Lily x x x

hi everyone

glad you all seem up beat.just finished sewing me ted up, his legs and arms are now in the right place.
so its on to dolly clothes next. grandaughter will love them.
son just got up requesting a cooked brekky, hubby would say let him do it himself, but us mums like to spoil them some time, dont we?
dont think im doing much today, but it wont hurt me cos im getting tired at moment, but it will be miracle if i dont venture out, i dont do staying in!

hope you all have good weekend, x

Hi,
Lorraine did you get out today? It was very changeable here first quite bright and later a sudden rain fall from nowhere and then it just stopped. I took my mum shopping as usual and then watched tv mostly. It is so nice to not have monday morning to think about and to not have to plan lessons for the next week. Sorry those of you that are at work Monday.
I tried to ring about the puppies today and the woman just said hello as though she couldn’t hear me, then wouldn’t answer the phone or her mobile when I rang again so I am feeling a bit unsure. My mum thinks she wants to sell the pups to someone for more money and is going to blank me. Will try again but very disappointing if it has gone caput. Surely she would have told me if there were no pups or if they had not survived. I really don’t know what to think right now. Did you watch x factor and then the Cheryl Cole interview? I like loads of the participants this time, no favourite at the moment.
Enjoy your weekend everyone
Hugs
Lily x

Hi,
where are you guys? First day of half term yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Victor and I went to a nearby seside town and did our traditional throwing money at the amusement arcade, having fresh cod and chips in a restaurant overlooking the sea and then a short walk followed by a 99 ice cream watching the sea gulls. It was such a lovely day, sun shining, sea right in to shore and not too many noisy tourists. Also managed to pile in some retail therapy and bought a lovely black and white short coat from Debenhams that actually fits hooray. Victor and I had a chat about whether it was my main Christmas present but I pointed out it was much too early and I wanted to wear it now  So still writing my long Christmas list lol. Then we were interrupted by son phoning to say his card was exploding water everywhere so back home to see how bad it was. Very, so it looks like I am his chauffeur to uni this week instead of my planned lie ins :frowning: One good thing was I took my car for a spin and got hemmed in by an idiotic driver who got caught in the speed trap instead of me ha ha!He just kept overtaking and then going slow and was going fast when we came round the corner and zap there they were.
My other plans have all gone wrong too as the lady with the pups hangs up on me whenever I call and will not return calls, messages, emails, nothing. I am so disappointed as I was really looking forward to seeing it soon and thinking of names. I just can’t understand why or what happened. Mum thinks there were no pups or she has been offered more money or selling to a friend instead. I just feel so sad about it. So have been back on the internet and found some more and hope to see them next sunday, hooray again. Perhaps I should stay calm and not expect too much just in case, no can’t do that yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
Love
Lily x x x x

Hi ladies
Lily - a bit of a typo from you got me wondering how on earth does your son’s ‘card exploding with water’ mean he can’t drive LOL Sorry to hear about the pup lady - hmmm, you’d think she could at least let you know one way or the other. As to the day by the sea - how lovely. I remember OH and I going a couple of times during my chemo and it was so nice to get the fresh air (and fresh fish and chips!) Have a good week ‘off’ and good luck on the puppy hunt.
Bev - ouch - that sounds so painful, my eyes are watering in sympathy. I was on Tam for 4 and a bit years but luckily didn’t have any problems with my lenses - I would have hated it if I had and to have worn glasses all the time, well for driving etc. Hope you are enjoying your daughter being at home, or maybe she has just gone back? And that the family wedding went well. I hope your friend is coping with chemo - we ALL know what that’s like!
Lorraine - busy as ever - do you ever sit still or do nothing? Making teddy’s now is it? Or is it just the clothes? Whichever it is you are so lucky to enjoy making them and to be able to - I have no sewing or knitting skills whatsoever.
Val - hope you are OK, and still on holiday if I remember right? If that’s the case I hope you are having a lovely time, again with your daughter?
Lisa - how’s the pumping going? Not much more from what you’ve said. Also I’m assuming it may settle down a little bit between now and your op so it’s not so high? Not sure if that is the case.
Well a rather wet weekend for us in Paris but lovely to see our YD. We took out some Halloween bits as they don’t have so much over there and she is helping organise a party at their uni. That and a few Christmas decorations for her to decorate their flat with before she eventually comes home in December. A lot of walking around but it was nice to see her and catch up plus have a few meals together and treat her as she is a poor student  Luckily didn’t have too many problems with transport (due to strikes etc) but it took a bit longer to get into Paris from the airport as we had to change trains earlier than expected. Overall a good trip but OH and I have said next time we really need to do 2 nights so it’s not quite so rushed. Looking forward to a quiet weekend this one so we can catch up with a few jobs and enjoy the lie in when the clocks change.
Well, off to work in a while, TTFN
Nicky xx

well done Lily on getting your masters!!! brilliant work. Thanks my eye is feeling better now but as you say it is quite ridiculous the amount of things I have had go wrong with me since the dreaded BC I use to be a healthy person what happened? so sorry to hear about the pups it does seem as if the puppy seller has probably been offered more money.
Nicky glad you had a good time in Paris and weren’t affected by all the strikes that have been going on out there.
Thanks for the good wishes for my friend she is doing o.k. and has now had two chemo sessions and she will be having herceptin for either a year or eighteen months they have asked her to go on a trial which she is thinking about at present.
The wedding was fab everyone looked lovely particularly the bride and good fun was had by all. The only problem is my daughter is experiencing a few problems with numbness and after a visit to the doctors needs blood tests and a scan which I am very anxious about. The Doctor feels it may be a viral infection but obviously needs investigating so she is really fed up.

Hope all of you are keeping well.

love Bev

Evening ladies

Well everyone has been busy, Lorraine with her sewing and outings, Nicky with her trip to Paris and Lily, busy trying to chase up puppies, Val in France, Bev you poor thing your eye problem sounds horrid and Lisa - where is she???

My sister has been with us for a few days so we’ve been going out and about and showing her some of the sights, Mr P has been home and gone again after catching up on a few jobs here and YD is on half term also. My Mum didn’t make the trip as she was kept in hospital with a sprained ankle, at 84 they were worried that she had no one at home and she was wobbly on her feet. She’s home now and being independent as usual (and stubborn).

Weather is nice still, but we’ve had some pretty cold spells too and some frosts.

We’ve found someone to come and house sit for a week over Christmas and will ask around to get a local pet sitter for the 2nd week so hopefully I am off to UK with YD for Christmas and New Year.

Not much else is news from here so take it easy all and enjoy any good days you have.

Love P xx

Hi,
nice to have most of you back to chat to:)Lisa hope the ever increasing boob is starting to even out even if not level. Hopefully the weight and gravity will take effect. More about Milan please!!
Nicky you mean you have never had a card explode lol. Its a wonder I ever got my masters when i can’t even spell car ha ha. I reckon they just felt sorry for me for some reason, can’t think what that might be deeh. Son is stuck without wheels for most of this week and taking up quite a lot of my time driving him about. He is a cuddly, chatty sort so not much of a hardship. The alternative is insuring him on my car - ok so no problem with my taxi then. Nick I bet you checked your own spellings after spotting my blip ha ha! Will make a teacher of you yet. It was really lovely by the sea and I always feel revived. I would love to live by the sea or have a house right on the coast and sit in a big window in the warm watching the waves and weather. Well can’t leave my babies so that won’t happen. Its lovely that you are able to visit YD so often. I don’t know how you find the time and energy but sure she is delighted you do. How is ED getting on? Yes the hour back is looking good, enjoy.
Bev nice to hear from you and thank you. Glad the eye is on the mend and that the wedding was so enjoyable. I love weddings, especially when they are all day events. I hope all goes well for your daughter but if the doc thinks that it is a virus, it seems more likely as they rarely venture opinions. I know how you must feel as I would rather have everything land on me than them. Fingers crossed for her x.
Peacock hi, sounds like you have had a lot of visitors and I am sure it will be a bit lonely when they all go again. Shame you could not space them out a bit more but Christmas over here sounds exciting. You could be in new M & S knickers by the new year lol.Hope mum is on the mend too, I have a wobbly mum too. Very worrying!
What a strange day as I had planned to catch up on cups of tea, if you know what I mean. My friend didn’t answer the phone so obviously gone to her Scottish home. Put my shoes on to see my neighbour friend and she was on her way out for the day. Rang to talk about the pup but she didn’t answer (very worrying after the last fiasco)and so marked a few books. Then mum rang to say she was at my uncles up the road and would I go and have my long awaited cuppa with them. Got back and everything went crazy. The puppy lady had left a message to phone instantly as being beseiged by people wanting MY puppy. She wanted me to pick my puppy without seeing it. I couldn’t do it from a description so asked for pictures. Sent them to Victor and the kids who all went gooey about both of the pups. I just could not decide they were both the yummiest little bundles of fluff you saw in your whole life and how could I turn one down? So I have paid to block book both so I can choose, but will only have one as I told her. So feeling rather happy about the pup now and very excited to see it. In the middle of non stop calls about the woofs, MD and little chap arrived and invited me to MacDonalds so diet gone again as totally unable to resist this offer and had to have a rolo mcflurry too for extra calories, idiot. Halfway home, in the other direction son called for his taxi so we went back and picked him up. Then more calls about the dogs and intense discussions about which to have, followed by Victor in, ED to dinner and holby to watch. So a nice busy day and only 4 books marked :)Why do you have to work to be able to enjoy a week off so much?
Lorraine did you get out today, it was a bit rainy later in the day?
Lily x x x

I am still here, promise i will be back on tomorrow to catch up and tell you about Milan (not much to say) sorry missing your goss but been working lots and still working now at 1am so very tired, but tomorrow doing no work at night so its catch up night.

Last pump up on Thursday too yippeee…

speak tomorrow xx

Hi
What a duh brain I am Lily - so sorry I didn’t congratulate you on your Masters. Well done and such an achievement with what you were going through for some of it. I also recall you mentioning the backpay so I hope you can treat yourself to a well done Lily present! As to the spelling, I am a stickler for it - learnt that one from my Mum, but I do have spell checker on here (don’t know why) so it does highlight my mistakes! Usually because I’m typing too quick (with 2 fingers, mind, not the whole touchtype thing!) so I do miss quite a few letters out and have to go back and add them in! I hope the puppy makes it’s way home to you soon and you don’t convince yourself to have both of them  Enjoy the decision making and the rest of the week off, even if it’s a bit miserable with the weather. BTW ED is doing fine at Uni. She actually was at home this weekend but arrived very late on Fri eve when OH and I had gone to bed as we were up so early the next morning. We didn’t see her at all as we were up early on Saturday and back after she had left on Sunday! She was back for a good friends engagement party so hadn’t expected to be home but it did help us as she could look after kitty whilst we were away.
P - Hope you had a good weekend with your sister and that Mum gets better soon, and you get to see her as well. How nice if you could see them all at Christmas and NY.
Bev - hope your daughter is OK and that the tests show nothing. As Lily said we all wish their ills on us so they don’t have to deal with them so I know how you must be feeling.
Lisa - stop working so hard!!! You need a chill pill again;-) Hope the last pump up goes OK and your newly inflated side settles down for a bit.
To everyone else, I hope you are all OK and keeping busy
Nicky xx
ps I forgot to add this bit so have edited this - we went to see John Bishop last night. A very funny guy and I find him even funnier than some ‘Southerners’ I’m sure, as my Dad and his side of the family are Scousers so some of his expressions sound like I’m listening to one of my relatives! A way to spend such a grotty evening and with a meal at Cafe Rouge - with vouchers - beforehand, even better. No puds for me though - much preferred the steak frites  It was as if we were in Paris again - but with lower prices LOL

hi girlies

in so much pain at the moment waiting for tum drain tommorow. i am so swollen it presses on other organs especially ribs. but i still find im occupied most of the time. i do find it difficult to just sit and do nothing. it seems such a waste, but saying that sometimes i just nod off.
teddy is now finished cant wait to start dolly clothes.
ive also brought all the kids in the family, chrissy pressies and they are all wrapped up. ive loved chrissy shopping but i need to watch the pennies a bit now. talking about spelling you should have seen what i just typed instead of pennies, i would have been chucked off the site. LOL
BYE FOR NOW, LOTS OF LOVE X

Good luck Lisa with the last pump up, that seemed to come around quickly for me but probably not for you.
Lily the news about the puppies, well how exciting. Are you sure that you will only have one pup??? Male or female ?? If it were me I would end up coming away with both so strong will and stead sent to you! Oh and I forgot too, congratulations on passing the Master’s – do we call you Dr Lily now?? I usually stock up on M & S knickers and bras when I am in the UK, you just can’t beat them can you.
Bev hope that you have some encouraging news about your daughter? Hope your eye is also on the mend.
Nicky your trip to Paris sounds like it was hectic and I know what you mean about prices. On the whole we find France pretty expensive, that’s why Mr P goes to Asda to do some shopping whilst he is away. I haven’t heard of John Bishop but that is nothing new, I have a problem with keeping up to date with comedians and music!
Lorraine and Val hope you are both ok and Val hope you manage to avoid the strike tomorrow and demonstrations planned for the weekend.
The weather is still nice and sunny, long may it continue.
Take it easy ladies
XXX

I’ve added this bit as Lorraine has just posted - sorry to hear you are struggling a bit and are in pain, you really are a trooper and you’ve done your Christmas shopping too - you are streets ahead of me, good luck tomorrow with draining.
