Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi,
Lisa did we know about the army chap? Maybe you should recap the main details ;). I cannot believe you had rain. It was hotter than Malta down here and I have been back in thin summer dresses and sandals. At school today I had to stand under an air con unit on 18 degrees because I was so hot. The car was like the fiery furnace until the air con cut in. How do you stand it? I think you better buy a caravan down here to spend the winters lol. BTW you put us all to shame the number of times you change your photo. Nice photo of you and I guess your friend?
Nicky I think from memory it is your hip affected? That joint would not stay quiet with anything going on and you walking so much. Some joints are more protected and move less and possibly those are the ones that people do not notice as quickly. Anyway antenna is happy. Results are nerve wrecking when you are waiting but there is nothing like good results to send you to such a happy place. Oooh I hope my onc doesn’t send me for more tests next time :frowning: He made me have the lot again on my 2 year dx. I think the hospital are in a financial crisis so bound to be reducing test costs! It is the nuclear ones that worry me when they keep repeating them.
Right better go. Left you to have an emergency dash to sit with little chap while baby went to emergency doc, screaming blue murder, very unlike him. He has a tummy bug/virus and nappies like

Lily x

Eurgghhh nice nappies not, hope he’s okay.

Go away with your nice weather cracks you girls
rain and more rain here today, well in fact had to put my fog lights on this morning to get into work, maybe I need to move down south

Well I wont go into my irish craic much, me and friend met him at Preston and low and behold few months later he had 3 month training course 5 mins from me, had a few laughs and it was all around lump finding time, he was out of army and nuclear police training, totalplayer but had a laugh andkept my spirits up when finding out bynot feeling sorry for me, not meant to be
destined tobe single.

Good luck for thur nicky, sos allmy keyboard broke and spacebar and otherletters not working.

p.s.photomeand sis in law

yippeee keyboard fixed, spacebar and d working sorry girls

Lily hope baby is ok and little chap hasn’t caught it (whatever it is) and Lisa the new photo is good, 2 lovely ladies together smiling and happy.

I’m sort of happy today as the electricians started work, had to do several mad dashes ourselves to provide plans for each of the rooms and where we want plug points and switches for the lights. We also decided to add side lights in the lounge area which we didn’t have before but wished we had. Mr P chasing his tail as usual on the day he leaves, so I decided to make the sandwiches for him to pack in his “carry out” and lo and behold I go and cut my thumb and end up bleeding all over the sandwiches. I was determined not to have to go to the local hospital for stitches, so did a DIY fix with steristrips! It seems to have stopped bleeding now so hope I’ve got away with it and just a sore thumb for a few days.

Also saw the dermatologist today, he burned off 2 warts with that ice thingy, but nothing untoward. Next appt is with the Onc on 27 October, also a mammogram day, hopefully that day we will also go to IKEA to get our new kitchen, so am excited about seeing the Onc as will be doing something nice on the same day.

Hope everyone is ok?

XXX

Hi,
Peacock it is a good job you have come out of that big low of poor health as you are soo busy these days, lovely to hear.I know exactly how you feel planning things, especiallly the kitchen. Shame there is always a wait between plans and reality. Still waiting for mine! We should be mostly done this week and tonight we have sockets in the kitchen after a big growl at the builder, who in turn growled at the electrician. I really wish i could just be at home and enjoy it at the mo. You had to cut your finer! Walking disaster! Hope it doesn’t hurt too much. x
Lisa it was really hot here again and fog did you say?? What’s that ? . I think my umbrella must have moths in it by now!! I know I am going to regret saying that! Are you feeling back to normal at work now, i.e too much to do?
Hi everyone else x.
Baby is ok they say but still has spells when he screams the place down. All night yesterday according to MD who is shattered. In between he bouts he smiles away and bounces. Well better dash
Lily x

Hi Lily, just wondering if your new baby maybe suffering from colic? I remember my YD was dreadful, screaming and yelling at times and it was only as we started weaning that she improved. We kept infacol in business. Other suggestion is a possible milk allergy? Either way I hope it sorts itself out soon so your MD can get some much needed peace.

Thumb is still in plaster, I didn’t change the steristrips today, just changed the plaster and sprayed some antiseptic on it. Luckily it wasn’t my “bad” hand.

We’ve told a porky pie to our electrician and builder - the reason being that we don’t want work to stop again and wait weeks for something else to be done. The fib is that we have to move out of our rented house by mid November - only a little white lie and hopefully for the best of reasons!

I went to visit a friend today, the one who had the mini strokes. She looks well which surprised me, but is having more tests next week.

YD took her second theory driving test and this time passed so she is pleased.

All from me, Carole xxx

congrats to your daughter peacock.

Suffering today for over indulging last night

Lily hope baby is bit better.

Nicky good luck for tomorrow

peacock thats a good wee lie xx

Hi,
Peacock I think that was a very good idea and I bet they still miss the deadline :(. Wish I had thought of that! Well done to your daughter. Will she be borrowing your car then?
P and Lisa thank you for both your best wishes and ideas about baby. MD was up the entire night with no break and he would not even go to his dad so she was shattered. Went to doc and he is on antibiotics for a chect infection. Maybe gastric flu as the screaming stops after he goes. IT is MDs birthday tomorrow so I hope he is better for her to enjoy it. I am supposed to have him all evening on Friday!!!
Builder replied to my moan about lack of progress with the next invoice of the bill! We are going to disagree on this one as he has not finished it all yet.
Val havent heard for a while from you, hope things ticking along ok.

Nicky big hugs across cyber space and good luck. It will be fine I am sure, but consider me in the seat next to you while you have that horrible wait to hear the results. let us know asap please as I will be waiting
Lily x

Poor baby but be very tiring
kitchens and contractors are a nightmare aint they.

Anyone watch pride of britain - cried all the way through lol xx

Hi ladies
Thanks for the good wishes - just hope everything goes del later today when I have my appt - yikes. I was thinking the other day ‘why on earth did I ask for a CT scan?’ as for the last 2 years I’ve not had this panic when I see my oncologist as he’s got nothing bad to say to me! Hoping I get as good results as some of the other bone mets ladies have had this week. BTW I’ve seen Val post on those threads so I think she is just pretty shattered still and had a blood transfusion last week, so all in all not been on the forum as much. Hope you are doing well, Val, when you read this
Lily - I well remember the old colic of my 2 D’s and it doesn’t necessarily start straight after they are born, so it can be a bit of a shock when they suddenly start screaming and won’t settle. I hope it is something though that will go away soon, and therefore isn’t colic, but also isn’t anything too bad either - I also remember the yukky nappies :frowning: Going back to what Peacock said My 2 D’s had colic and we also dosed them up on Infacol and, when it got really bad gripe water as well - in fact a good friend who was also a midwife said to use the one with alcohol in not the one without!
Hope all the kitchen work and building work will be done soon, for Lily, and on time for P - blummin’ contractors, they never complete on time - as can be seen almost every week on Grand Designs!
P - well done to your daughter - I expect you will now be sorting lessons for her and also the dreaded going out with her as well - keep those nerves in check!
What a difference in the weather! I got sunburnt on Monday and then Lisa sent the cooler, and now wetter, weather down to us! I do enjoy the cooler nights though, it was quite warm over the past week and seemed really odd in October!
Hi to everyone not mentioned - hope all is well with you.
Well, that’s it from me, I’m keeping myself busy this morning doing chores and then see my Onc this afternoon, will report back.
Nicky xx

Hello Ladies,
Thank you for the welcome, it does seem like I’m an interloper in a club where you know each other so well and I’m the newbie, but I love your humour and some of the stories.
I haven’t got any children. it must be so worrying when they are tiny and ill - and yucky nappies - poooh!
I’ve got 2 cats, they did get fleas one summer - that was enough. i’m very dilligent now. I live in the sunny South (Worthing) so they are always out catching and eating things they shouldn’t. Anyone would think I didn’t buy truck loads of cat food every week, they prefer it on the move.
I’m behind you in my treatment.Getting to the end of my chemo, side effects yucky now. Spent 24 hours in hosp last week due to high temp/neuts so chemo was delayed. I’ve had it now though and only I more to go before rads.
I enjoy reading your posts about family, houses, cars, kids, meringues
as well as friends you’ve lost along the way. It makes me realise that although BC takes over our lives it isn’t total forever and life goes on. Thank you.

Hello Ladies, Yes Nicky you were right. Not had much energy but feeling a bit peckier now! The blood transfusions did the trick and I think I should have had them sooner because the difference is amazing and I can breathe so much better too.
I have been going out in the afternoon with my Oh and it is good to get out of the house. I can manage to walk without crutches albeit very slowly and the wounds in my leg have healed beautifully. I have several appointments on the horizon the next being Monday to see the Consultant regarding radiotherapy. I am back to my normal medications and do not need the painkilllers I was given after the op. So all in all going in the right direction. I read your posts EVERY day so know what you have all been up to! Keep up the good work! Will post again more fequently. My daughter is arriving next week for 10 days. She hasn’t been home since 2009 so a party or two will be happening! Must retain some energy for that. Love Val

Hi ladies
Reporting back from my Onc’s appt and Lily’s antennae were in perfect working order  All very stable - even repairing due to the bisphosphonates and it was very interesting to see slices of me on his pc screen - from the CT scan of course, not actual! So happy as I know that I won’t have to stress about anything for a while - hooray.
Val - lovely to hear from you and what leaps and bounds you’ve made - I understand not quite literally but getting there! Don’t overdo it and have a fab time with your daughter being here to see you - we won’t expect many (any?) posts then but a big catch up after
Hi Slenda - how we remember those days - bloody awful if you ask me. Have you got support on here from other ladies going through chemo at the same time? That’s how we all started. If not please moan on here - we definitely can sympathise. Hope you don’t get any more problems, I remember just waiting and waiting for the last chemo to be over with - what a relief, but give yourself time to strengthen - it really takes it out of you. On a completely different note I also have a moggy - she’s about 16 now - next week in fact - and was one of a pair until curiosity really did kill her sister crossing the road to see the bunnies :frowning: Because we don’t live near many other cats she rarely gets fleas but we keep an eye out and a quick spot of Frontline does the trick. She’s on amazing form for her age and still catches things - even though we wished she didn’t.
Well TTFN, thought I’d share the good news with you all and I can eventually take the big grin off my face
Nicky xxxx

Great to hear your good news Nicky. I am always glad when the results are in and you know where where you are.
I too am a cat lover and have had several pets over the years usually in twos or threes! My YD moved back in with her 2 black cats called Olly and Oscar
when she moved back out to a house nearby
they remained here and they have settled in well. They can be fussy eaters and didn’t like the ( large bag!) of whiskas dry biscuits, so my OH put some outside for the animals that come into my garden. last night our usual two hedgehogs arrived and were eating the dry food and lapping up the water for the birdbath I have on the ground
when the security light went on again last night we looked out to see the hedgehogs but a FOX was eating the biscuits almost rubbing shoulders with the hedgehogs
neither bothered by the others present and all eating the dry cat food
we live in the city too
well on the edge of it. Love Val
Ps Olly and Oscar eat the drycatfood when it is outside too!!!

Nicky what great news, I bet you breathed a sigh of relief!!

Lily I don’t blame you - me too when our builder sends us a bill but hasn’t actually done anything! Hope baby is a little better now on AB and your MD can get some rest and enjoy her birthday, and he doesn’t scream too much or too loud for you.

Lisa hope you are feeling less hungover by now, why do we always do it - again and again! I did watch some of the P of B, and yes at times it was quite emotional I’m with you on that one.

Val thanks for letting us know how you are and I am pleased that you are turning the corner now following your op. Sounds like it’ll be lots of partying next week.

Slenda you remind me so much of 3 years ago when I was having chemo, in fact in the October I had my 6th round expecting to have 2 more but thank goodness I didn’t! The tumour had shrunk enough for the mx and my body had had enough! You will need a few weeks rest from chemo before you have rads, I didn’t find radiotherapy too bad, but again it is tiring. We have two cats, they’re 8 years old and 2 dogs - oh, mustn’t forget the 4 hens.

I think we’ve had our first autumn day today, it has been quite chilly. We also had a sprinkling of rain and believe it or not, I had to remind myself what rain is, it has been so long since it rained. I decided to keep busy today and did quite a bit, just the usual mundane jobs like ironing, hoovering, cleaning the floor, baked a fruit cake and then after all that lot went off to a keep fit class. My poor body is crying now and aching in muscles I haven’t felt for a long time. I also packed away the majority of my summer clothes as I have a feeling I won’t be needing them again this year. Two weeks to go and I’ll be hitting all those shops like Peacocks, Primark and M & S!

Take care all xx

yyyiiiiiippppppeeeeee NICKY!!! been worrying all day, so happy for you, that antenna of hers is defo working lol XXXXX

Val, lovely to hear from you and glad you are on the mend, sounds like blood transfusion is doing the trick.

All this talk of cats, think I have my mums fear of them, hee hee two have just moved into the house beside her too, well you know what I mean.

Glad the cold weather moved towards you, my poor wee harrybo nearly got blew of the road today, galeforce winds and wait for it
 yes its righ
 hailstones!!!

Slenda god those days make me quiver come on here and moan anytime brings back so many memories and the one thing that got me through it was the chat with these lot!!! God from talking about sweeping multi coloured dog hair up for wigs to meringues to lots of other things got me through it. Glad you are near the end and Im sure you will find rads a doddle compared to chemo (well one you know what to expect)

Hope baby is wee bit better Lily or you could have a restless night tomorrow.

Well Im off to rugby final at old trafford on sat so hangover time again no doubt then the very serious diet must start, i really want my op date asap as want to be able to plan other things xxx

I did really know you were ok, not just kidding, antenna was positive this time. Now go and do something useful and stop hesitating just in case!!!You can do long term plans you know. Hugs x.

Thank you ladies/buddies
A great relief and don’t worry Lily - we’re always planning something
Off for a bit of walking at the weekend - hoping the weather holds but it won’t be as nice as last Sunday but I suppose I won’t be putting on suncream! What a difference a week makes and the chilly nights are definitely settling in now.
Have a good weekend everyone, will catch up later.
Nicky xxx

We ended up having a sunny day yesterday interspersed with a couple of quick sharp hail showers. Went out with OH and happened to be outside a Chinese restaurant when the rain started - so we had to go in and have lunch - well, you’ve got to !!!
Not worrying too much about trying to lose weight until chemo finished.
I’m sitting with my feet up, duvet over my legs and cat asleep on the top, so can’t possibly move for a while

Took a sleeping tablet last night so feeling a bit zombie like today.

hi all, off to bed just wanted to say have a lovely weekend all. Im off to old trafford for the rugby final so driving harrybo the hyundai down with mam and dad and meeting friends, hope you all have nice weekend xxxx
