Hi all
Sorry, it was such a shock to hear about Sue, the lady Val and I ‘knew’ from the forums and obviously Val had more contact than me so it must have hit her even harder. I didn’t feel like posting yesterday after reading that awful news.
Lily, hope the new week of term isn’t too bad and at least the mornings are brighter, even if not any warmer than winter, what is happening? I had my puffa coat on yesterday for a walk, that is ridiculous for mid April. Let’s hope it’s a turn about this year as last year we had all our good weather early and none later on. My veg, as Lily asked, are hardy little things, potatoes and carrots so not needing any tender care. I won’t be planting any delicate seeds etc until a few weeks time.
Lisa, well done for going out and partying, you must be feeling better, although probably pooped today.
Val, hope you are doing well and still firing on all cylinders. Hoping all goes well for your daughter and good luck with your own apot today. Regarding the hob, I’d get it done when YOU are ready and can cope with the workmen! You can always keep the ordered one, or get them to store it, until you’ve had a chance to check out someone good to fit it. I must say ever since I’ve had my electric hob I’m so pleased, no nasty metal bits in the way to clean and they are so good now. I always had gas jobs before but we don’t ave gas where we live and I wish I’d changed sooner.
No news from me, a quiet weekend, watching the GP then the football. OH v happy with Chelsea’s result, Dad, brother and nephew not so happy with Everton’s!

Hi,
Nicky - ED was at Wembley at the Everton match, much to the disgust of some big fans who would gladly have taken her ticket. She is a man utd fan but was bought an Everton flag by the people she went with and wore it, even remembering not to cheer for the reds, for a change! Her boyfriend was very disappointed of course.Very amusing when footy is on in our house as we are all man utd fans but Victor and YD can’t stand football at all. Victor is in despair when a big match starts and grumbles and gets his newspaper out! However, they all have partners who are strong fans of other teams so we have a lot of banter and texts going on during matches. One lot are groaning while the others are laughing. Very amusing at times. It sounds like similar scenes happen at your house.
I can quite understand that it is hard to post after such sad days and unfortunately I know exactly how it shakes you to hear bad news. I always think of Lorraine and her philosophy on not wasting time and doing lovely things for her. I think we promised her, didn’t we? Such an amazing lady and I do really miss talking to her on here.
Lisa I have no sympathy for hangovers, you earned it!!! No seriously, glad you had a lovely time. How did it go with the boss?
Peacock how are your ribs?
Val,hope things went well
Over and out
Lily x
Bonsoir toute le monde,
Lisa hope your bones are recovered now from all that bopping?
Lily agree about the red rug, got that in mind too. Diabetic chocolate is yuk, so don’t eat it and yes any diabetic product has the possibility to give the runs because of the sorbitol. Aspartame is well known for giving wind. I remember quite clearly my chemo toilet troubles, constantly having to run to the loo and was eventually told I had “microbes in my stomach” which a short course of AB’s cleared up.
Nicky, interesting about the aspirin theory, have you started to take it yet? My cardiologist advised me to take the 75 mg dose every day to keep the blood thin and ward off many of the complications that diabetes can often have. I haven’t started to take it yet, only because of a bit of stubbornness on my part – not another medicine to take, as if I don’t have enough already! Great news about your appointment and all is well. In the field, we’ve planted nothing this year as too busy with the house but I will miss doing all my little veggie bits.
Val, lots of thoughts finding their way to you and your D and hope she doesn’t wait too long for the results, fingers crossed all will be well. I’m not sure what an induction hob is, so think I’ve missed out here. It is so sad when our cyber friends pass, sometimes people we know well enough to think of as real friends, it is always so poignant. I have often read SusieV’s posts, and because of that feel sad myself that another young life is lost.
Lisa as you know we are all good at giving ideas for fun events so rest assured you can count on us. Alice in Wonderland theme sounds like a good giggle, which character do you want to be?
From this end apart from the coldish and rainy weather all is well. I have been pain free for about a week now so hopefully my ribs have healed (until the next time!!!). I have my appointment in a couple of weeks to see about the mammo and u/s on my “good” breast but in the meantime I try not to think about it. I’m not doing much to help but Mr P has finished the decoration of the kitchen and still to do is the dining room end and the lounge. We’ve ordered a bold bright red cream wallpaper which will be on 2 walls, the rest is magnolia. We installed the wood burner yesterday to have a fire and guess what, we got smoked out! Something is not right with it, so we’ve had to call back the chimney people to check out if there is some sort of blockage. It is a scary enough event to have a fire (recap to THAT awful day) so we don’t want to have any mishaps with this one.
Must sign off now as my battery is almost finished, so take care ladies, thinking of you all, especially Val and her daughter.
Carole xx
Hi,
ho hum ho hum must be in Coventry again - where are you guys? Must have been the footy talk put you off so back to my favourite topic. Well today the white chocolate sheep and the milk chocolate bunny escaped from their packaging but didn’t last long in the wild of my house ans were soon finished off in the normal fashion. The mountain drops another level
Lily x
Oh Peacock tres bien someone to talk to Glad to hear ribs are improving and keep that in your mind next time you go to do something you shouldn’t. I am having a think about the aspirin as the girls have ibs possibly and definite milk allergies so tummies are always a risky thing to tamper with in our house. The smoke must have really worried you, how horrible. We rented a house recently and tried to light the woodburner and got completely smoked out and had to put it out quickly. I was surprised that the glass doors don’t shut tight until the fire as hot enough to expand them and we were all coughing by then so put it out quick. Maybe it is a similar for you or the wood is not dried out enough as newly cut things smoke terribly I believe.
Night x
Hi Lily, no you’re not in Coventry, or so I remember ha ha
The footy talk is what I grew up with so it certainly doesn’t put me off. All my Everton ‘boys’ mentioned were also at the game, luckily they don’t live in Liverpool (where my Dad originates from) so didn’t have to endure the transport back with all the Liverpool supporters! My Nan lived in between the Liverpool and Everton grounds and you could tell if there was a home game who had scored! However a very friendly rivalry between the clubs, which is good to see.
P, glad the ribs are feeling better and the decoration is coming on a treat, nearly done I hope and you will be so pleased when it is. Sorry your weather isn’t any better than here My Dad went and got me another water butt yesterday, everywhere is selling out, but Im not sure I’ll need it with all the rain we’re having. Before fitting it properly I may just stand it up and catch some of this that’s happening now. Regarding the aspirin I just treat it as one of the many meds I have to take. I’ve had it prescribed since 2009 when I developed atrial fibrillation, so according to my onc I could be benefitting from it’s powers already. It’s the smallest and easiest tablet I take so it just goes in the pile LOL. BTW Vit D is also important, I’m taking mine in tablet form but I hope to get the sunshine variety soon
Lily - glad to see the mountain is disappearing slowly, they do this time of the year, it’s called a thaw LOL What’s left? And I expect a slump in the manufacturers’ sales figures after the spike in April! Well done you for keeping them going. They’d be out of business with me.
Val - hope all is well with you and yours.
Lisa - how are you doing? Hopefully recovered
Well, replacement, replacement windscreen is in with no added scratches this time. It felt like a car park here yesterday with the Autoglass guy, my parents visiting and then the window cleaner turning up all at the same time. They all did their jobs and went, parents included! Although they didn’t have any jobs, just visiting their 2 grand daughters before the girls head back to uni later this week.
Have a good day, rain or shine (I think mine will be rain)
Nicky xx
Ooops sos I have been missing been a manic few days, dont seem to have enough hours in the day shuffling and what not. All good here moving round and driving bit more but still tired but trying to get all house sorted and clear out bits and pieces as only 3 weeks left on sick which will fly in, that will be 10 weeks… pity you cant appreciate most of them. Then I have put holidays in for my hols to Florida and then back to work day after after Im back, just afternoons first week but boss seems to think I won’t be inundated as Ive been keeping all emails sorted throughout time off etc. so has some new groups for me to get involved in.
No other goss here but off some something to eat as this chocolate talk not helping - day 3 of cutting down and 3 or 4lb off so hopefully be a bit more when I go to see surgeon next week.
Peacock, I dont take asprin but was thinking of taking it when I fly as some people have mentioned it. House sounds like it is coming on fab, cant wait to see pics xx
Lily - football, rugby league is more my thing - watched it with dad at local club since I was about 8 and still go some weekends and also watch it on tv. Have you been lonely not being bumped. Been loggin on earlier before relaxing…
Nicky - at last the car is sorted, yippeee… Do you take vitd as a pill, no one has ever given me any advice about what to take, i.e. asprin, vit 4 especially as I am just on a once a month bone strengthener and when I had bone scan alreayd had some wear and tear - might have to ask next time I go but all we see is a surgeon or BC nurse - only ever seen my onc once.
Val - hope your daughter gets postive results. Hope the weather is allowing you to get out and about and walk. If not just make us jeleous with the cakes etc. in your new oven.
Night All, well prob pop back later !! xx
Just to say no news yet about my YD. But she phone and left message with BCN in the clinic to ask how long she would have to wait to hear about results.
I have been potting up plants in garden. Forever the bargain hunter. Herbs which were £2.95 in B and Q in the reduced section all reduced to 10p. So bought mint, tarragon, 3 sage and one parsley. Gave them the kiss of life plus some TLC and talked to them to reassure them they were going to be all right. Success, 6 happy plants. Looking good.
Then rhubarb story. Waitrose, rhubarb reduced from £3.19 to £1.29. but once through the till they had been on special offer on full price if you bought 2 packets and I got money back! So went back in and bought 8 packets. Ended up only costing 20p for 2 packets! Guess I will be kept REGULAR! Am I mean or just lucky and careful? Answers on a postcard please!
Been reading all your posts. Hope you are all doing okay.
Am going to hose the plants now. Planned to do it earlier but my YD popped in after work. I said if you are hungry there is Lamb Kofta in Fridge. She ate that, FOLLOWED by a shop bought Prawn tikka massala. Said mine was much better!
Made a list of things to do last night. Have completed half of them. Will try better tommorrow. Love to al, Val
OOH its raining. No need to hose the garden tonight. Hey ho
Hi,
back from Coventry never understand why you all go off at the same time, invite me next time, please
Interesting talk about tablet popping. I have been in the past of the opinion that the fewer things you take the better, seeing as a few years later they have often changed their mind and scared the pants off people taking supplements. Also the fact that it was so dangerous to take the things while on chemo. However, I am not a healthy eater(bet you guessed that one), can’t eat hardly any fibre without causing the kind of trouble that could also become a worse health issue, can’t exercise much due to feet, joints, side effects of femara or sieze up. So I am now curious, spill the beans what are your suggestions, why and is it folk lore or fact. I don’t mean that rudely but I find the whole idea of taking general multivitamins when nothing wroing and eat normally wacko ;). But I would like to hear the argument for as strongly as you like so I can have an internal debate about it. So are you for or aginst and why? Oh Angie would have loved this one
Until then, the brown favourite product from plants will have to suffice and give me happiness. Caramel shortcakes tongiht, my absolute favourite mmm.
Nicky hoping to have a big response on you re above and please don’t hold back I REALLY take a lot of persuading to swallow any tablets.
Glad Fiat is now crystal clear and perfect. Will be sad to have an empty house again but maybe the reduced workload will be nice.
Lisa you are back, thought the pigeons had got you lol.Yes I miss the bumping but P got me yesterday.Have to say every day I’m shuffling is one of my fav songs ever and I am now picturing you with the brown box on your head doing the crazy moves. DO not try it! The hols are coming yaaay, you lucky thing.
Val well I will just my fingers crossed a little longer for your daughter. I always think bad news catches you up quickly so delays are always a good sign for me. You are a bargain hunter, well done. Watch you don’t overdo it with all the digging though. The weather is driving me crazy. Trying to work out what to wear for work is a nightmare as it switches so quickly from hot to cold so I have been taking an extra woolly for when I need it.
P my friend has recently had a scare in the area below her mx, around the ribs. She has just had a lot of tests in case bone mets and hers was tethering where the op has attched to the wrong parts and pulls I guess. She said it was a terrific pain but feels better for knowing whta it is. She has to see how she goes or go back for another op. She is naturally hesitant as anothe op would mean more scars, healing and could start another problem with attachment. Anyway thought you might like to hear of her experience as they were checking her out due to rib pain
Lily x
Hi all
Lily, I was also someone who didn’t take a tablet in my life before the dreaded BC found me. I now have to take 5 tablets a day for various reasons associated with bone mets and heart problems brought on by chemo, so why not add a few more ha ha. As you know I’ve given you the low down on aspirin, straight from the onc’s mouth, however I don’t have any links to the research behind it so you may want to google it. As to Vit D I read an article last year about how it is a undervalued vitamin but very important to us and that almost all of us will have low Vit D levels due to our modern lifestyle. My onc also takes Vit D each day and he told me that almost all cancer patients have been shown to have low Vit D levels so there does seem to be a correlation. Whatever is good for him is good for me! I started taking Vit D (cheaper at S’drug than online) a few months back and was interested when I last saw him that he also takes it. Anything that can keep this bugger at bay for a bit longer, alongside my prescribed medication, is welcome! Prof Nicky over and out
Hi to everyone, hope all is well with aches, pains, scars and recovery. Well done Val with the bargain hunting, we’d all love a Waitrose near us but don’t have one, they are so good at reducing very good quality food. I cottoned on to this when I went to the one near my parents, none of this 10p off malarkey that some of the huge chains do! Real savings and very welcome to us all. Keep us updated with your finds and hope all goes well when your daughter hears back, the waiting really is the pits.
Off now to catch up on a few things before D No 1 heads back, then D No2 tomorrow.
Nicky xx
Ha ha the sun is shining here today again what’s happening. Managed a wee walk a bit further yesterday walked about 10mins to pick niece up from school so going to try it again and get out with parents and dog at weekend. Stop the food talk, diet whilst not at work is even harder.
Well going to look into the pills thing and wonder about taking vit d too as have thought about it in the past - is this the one linked to calcuim or have a got it wrong…
Well insurance and tax man day today… that’s half a day I wont get back…
Val, bargain hunter - jeleous…
Hi Girls,
Great news. My daughter got her results today and all good news. It came back as normal tissue. She is still being referred to the Genetics Team for a chat and awaiting letter from them. Think a nice bottle of something fizzy will be opened this weekend.
Lily not sure exactly what your question is. Are you asking what we think about multi vitamins? And are you also asking if it is ok to eat rubbish and take vitamins to cover anything you have missed out on a rubbish meal? Sorry just not sure what you are asking.
Raining on and off her today so just stayed at home and did some odd chores around the house and phoned all our friends to deliver the good news. Love to all. Val
That is great news Val, a huge relief for you all and a bottle of Fizz is definitely needed.
Well, Lisa must have the sun to herself because it rotten weather down here as well. Hailstones and a deluge, at least I wasn’t out in it. A day of chores for me as well - at least that means they are done for tomorrow.
Lisa - good for you with the walking, each day a bit more and you’ll be fighting fit and ready to walk round the parks in Florida. Jealous of the sun you’ll get, I don’t think we are due any for all of May from what I read briefly
Enjoy the weekend everyone.
Nicky xx
Hi,
Val what wonderful news, now I can safely uncross my cramped fingers ;). You must feel on top of the world after that. Its probably a good idea to chat to the gentics team and they are evry careful to make sure you really understand what knowing means before you do, as no way back from that. A friend’s daughter has been told she is 80% likely to get it from her genetics tests so it is an important decision, in more than one way.
By the way what I meant was should I pop pills or not. I acknowledge that my diet could be one that pills could improve, my question is which to take and why. Mainly because I really struggle to swallow the rotten things, even femara weeny things keep popping back up again. Back to vitamins, etc, most things are excreted quickly and needed in very small amounts so big veg/fruit/dairy eaters could already be having above the daily requirement and simply be excreting them already without takaing more. I just think of how they have changed their mind about how dangerous some foods are for preggers ladies that we were encouraged to munch. My friend used to worry about meat and became strictly vegetarian. At the time I said but next thing they will say fruit and veg are dangerous. She thought this was crazy and impossible. A couple of years later the scare on apples and apple juice chemicals started, which she used a lot so then she moved to be an organic veg. I am not sure you can escape everything as even natural manure carries disease these days.
Anyway back to the point, apart from baby aspirins what tablets are actually proven/ reserached to slow/prevent/protect from cancer. I will read up vit D when I get out of this manic work week.Any other views, especially strong ones, I need convincing
Nicky hope goodbyes are not too sad
Lisa sounded like a horrible day, tax man Go have some fun
Lily x
Well very happy for you Val, that’s amazing news. I know the genetics thing is hard but I have a very biased view. Our family tried for years to get some genetic link on my dads side and although none of my aunts etc. had it their mams all did have either ovarian or breast cancer. I knew they would start to to mamos etc. when I was 35. As I was distantly related to my hubbie wierd I know but when mil was ill with ovarian cancer she had chance for blood test to get the genetic link so we could all be tested but fil wouldnt allow it. If had I might have known earlier what my position was and would have been tested earlier, in hind sight you just dont know but first thing I done was ask to be tested then that could allow all my family to be tested if they wished too. All but one of my uncles did but he wont be having any family anyhow and the rest apart from dad and one uncle come back clear out of 8 of them, my brother also come back clear which was a huge relief too. So the genetic link at least ends with me and if my aunts and uncles dont have it their children dont need to be tested.
Well i digressed. Going to look into vit d tonight and asprin.
Sun is shining here but means nothing went to pick niece up yesterday and sun was shining as I waited outside massive downpour and no hood, last 20 mins and then rained all night again. Very strange weather.
Well better go, Val got me inspired have made huge list for before I go back to work and ticked 11 things off yesterday. Happy days.
Speak later xx Yippee friday x
Thanks for your story about the genetics Lisa. It was good to read and gave me an insight to the problems it can be. Hope you are doing better with your list than I am Lisa. I still have some boring stuff to complete from my own list. Should get the finger out but can’t be bothered today as I want to get out of the house and have some “me” time or a walk with my OH. Have a great weekend. How is the healing of your scars going? Hope things are going well for you.
Lily, I don’t have much knowledge of vitamins and pills but if I were you I would have a chat with your GP because taking some vitamins and even herbal ones can cause problems. It is not something I would do lightly. I think cod liver oil tablets have been proved to be safe but I would be careful of other pills. But that is just me. I know a lot of friends took St John’ Wort for a while until they found out that there could be problems for some people. I think you should just eat good natural food and avoid processed food and prepared foods that often have so many awful additives. I avoid most but I am no angel and realise when you are working we cannot all have the time to cook fresh foods from scratch everyday. We have most meals cooked from scratch and try to eat fresh fruit everyday. I love passion fruit scooped on top of icecream and banana’s mashed onto toast. You don’t just have to have a boring apple or sour orange. Though I do love most fruits and am having rhubarb just now because of my bargain buy! But you can eat without cooking but cold food isn’t always what we need or want. salads are okay as long as they are not boring ones.
Nicky I hope you had a great time with your daughters. We had no Waitrose in Scotland until quite recently but I do like it. But I do shop around as you know I like my special offers. My husband and daughters laugh at me because I not only have my shelves and cupboards full but have another box filled with “spares” as I call it. If I see something on offer but don’t need it rught then and there, I buy it and put it aside! I even have a bag in a cupboard near the bathroom with “spares” like shampoos when the ones I like are on offer, plus Pears Soap for Oh, Dove for me and all the others things I normally buy but have had an offer on. The “spare” thing all began when our local Supermarket closed and it you ran out of something you had to plough through heavy traffic to get to another shop. So many new supermarkets, even small ones have opened up that we have Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Co-op, and M&S all quite close by. But I realsie that I have all the time in the world to look around and it was very different when the girls were small and my OH and I were out working. I have had lots of occupations over the years. Would love to know what all of you have done. I know Lily is a teacher. Now that is a job which I call really tough. My ED did a degree which would allow her to teach English and did some hands on work at some schools. But she decided that wasn’t the way she wanted to go and now is in France cooking food and pouring pints.
Now the jobs I have done, some of them while at school are…
Shop Assistant ( Woolworth’s!) Waitress, Receptionist in Casualty at local hospital, Civil Servant in DHSS, Cocktail Waitress,Market Research, Child minder, Donor Assistant in the Blood Transfusion Service, Bank Cashier. Quite a variety. Even worked on a farm for free milking cows, collecting eggs and driving a tractor when I was a teenager.
Now your turn girls. Love to all. Have a good weekend. I am off to a funeral tomorrow for friend who worked with my in the BTS. Love val
Hi Ladies
I’m here, have been reading your posts but exhausted so haven’t posted myself. Ribs are ok now, off all the painkillers and not suffering anymore thank goodness. My next appointment to check the “good” breast is on 11 May, where the “nodule” is.
We have completed one wall of the dining end of the house, bright red & gold wallpaper and it looks amazing, I will post a picture soon. Still lots to do though as the room is quite large but the other end can wait.
Lily thanks for telling us about your friend, it sounds familiar but I hope she finds it easier now she knows what it is. Have you got through all the choccies yet?
Nicky my Vit D level was very low, even though I’ve been taking Calcium & Vit D for over a year now. I’ve also been advised to take aspirin 75mg daily, but this is for heart/diabetes complications (although I haven’t started it yet, for the same reason as you and don’t like to take medicine). I saw the recent research news about taking aspirin to help keep secondaries at bay, so maybe I should start taking them sooner than later.
Val, fantastic news with YD – you must be so relieved but also good that the genetics team are getting involved. Well done for all the bargain buys and recent cooking! Like me you’ve had a varied career, I’ve had mostly an office related career, starting as a typist in a typing pool (horrid supervisor and hated it), then an admin assistant, a PA, a cashier (several times to fill in when looking for work), an office manager, a cleaner, and most important of all a Mum to 3 lovely children.
Lisa hope you are stocking up on the sun cream, not long for you now (wish I was coming with you) you must be getting excited, how are all your scars now?
Think that’s it from me, have a good weekend all xxxx
Hi,
well you all sound rather busy so no wonder posts go a little thin on the ground sometimes.
Lisa it seems to be the time for soakings as I have lost count of teachers coming off duty drowned from downpours and it got son while trying to mow the lawn today. At least the front lawn is not the worst in the road now lol. What big things are on your to do list?
Val it is tricky about the genetics. I told YD about the girl’s odds and she was horrified and said she would never want to know that and spend every day worrying. I am not sure that there is one answer that is right for all. Hopefully being aware and starting the mammos early will protect as much as is possible. The latest research seems to point to alcohol being a culprit and no-one would doubt that smoking and cancer walk hand in hand so maybe reasonably careful living too. I go bonkers about anyone smoking, even their partners but I don’t really have the right to order them around now.My mum always said you never stop worrying once you’re a parent, she was right AGAIN!!! Val I enjoyed reading your food vs tablets thoughts and you are very much in line with my thinking but I don’t do the healthy eating I should. I react severely to fruit and veg and have to be really careful. So I probably do need to see my GP about that and talk pill popping while there, good idea :)BTW I was a papergirl (age 14), made starters and sweets in a restaurant, ran a small business from home, worked in the city in head office of a multinational corporation as bought ledger clerk, then chief accountant’s assistant, then 10 lovely years at home with 4 babies, stock controller at night, then school receptionist/first aid/finance person, then teaching assistant at a secondary school. Qualified as teacher and then and still maths teacher.
P looking forward to seeing the room and glad you feel better.
Nicky x for the goodbyes this weekend

Hello ladies, peacock, I cannot wait to see the wallpapered photos as it sounds really grand. Well done you. I hope you are not using the same person for your fire as the last one you had. I couldn’t cope with all that again, far less you! How you managed to start all over again is utterly amazing and you deserve a medal for keeping up under all the strain. As does your dear husband and daughter. Keep us posted after your 11th May appointment.
Nicky, I hope you are not missing your daughters too much. Are you planning to go over there to visit this year? Just wondered how YOU were doing right now and if you are keeping well. Also want to know what jobs you have done in the past as Lily and peacock and I have shared.
Lily, Don’t get me wrong, I have days and days when my diet is “dodgy” and sometimes we don’t even eat a proper meal but nibble at cheese and apple and grapes. Or just have a bowl of soup and a sandwich. But as I am the oldest one of us on here I can tell you that as you get older your appetite diminishes. My daughters can wolf down food and are quite slim as I was too at their age. But I am bigger than I used to be and eat less now! Well to be honest I have gone done a size recently but mainly because of my lack of appetite while on chemo. I have a week off the pills now so have a few nice things lined up to do.
Lisa, you are quiet but I am hoping that you are out there having fun with all the other singles and perhaps you have crossed paths with a new beau without realising it!
I was at a funeral today of a friend I worked with in the BTS. It was a large gathering and it was good to meet up with some old workmates. Golly they were a great bunch of people to work with and SO supportive when I was diagnosed when I was 39. And still are.
Then I went off to St Giles Cathedral to a service dedicated to people who have lost their lives to eating disorders. But I really went to hear the choir as my dear friend Babs was singing in the choir and also singing was her brother and sister-in-law. Twas great to meet all of them and the atmosphere in that magnificent building was breath-taking. It is in the Royal Mile just down from the castle.
I have cancelled the induction hob and instead have now ordered a gas hob to match my new oven. But now I need a new worktop and a sink so am looking into that. I have solid wood worktops at the moment but around the sink it has gone black and there is even a shall knot like hole as well. So now thinking about what to do. Replace all of it ( a hassle) or just replace the offending stretch. But brother in law may have a spare box that I could have so fingers crossed I may get off lightly. he even has a sink that he chose not to put in as he wanted a smaller one…may be able to get that one too. What am I like…a bargain hunter to the end.
Hope you all are out enjoying yourself tonight or at least spending it with loved ones. Love to you all. Will be thinking of darling Sue on Monday with a tear in my eye. Love val
Morning (just) ladies
A late night for me and OH as we were out at friends’ Unfortunately I couldn’t sleep in, the sun was too bright so I’m rather tired now, but OH managed a good 10 hours Oh, we’ll, he does need it as he gets up a lot earlier these days.
A lovely walk yesterday morning and saw some bluebells in a small wood. I wanted to check if they were out yet, what with the cold spell we’ve been having, so will now try and get organised to go to a well known beauty spot for bluebells next week to see a whole carpet of them.
D’ s are now well and truly packed off after a last minute dash back home to get YD’s laptop that she’d forgot to pack. A rather rushed goodbye at the airport LOL Although this is the last time I’m doing it so no more stress for me, she can sort her own transport out once she’s finished for good. We won’t see her now until early July when we pick her, and all her wordly goods, up from Paris and say goodbye to her home for the last 3 years, I still can’t believe how quickly this has come around. So we get a mini break then and then she’s back for good, which will take a bit of adjusting to for both her and us. She left as a just 18 year old and is now coming back a more wordly wise 21 year old, used to living life to the full in a city. Not sure how long she will last in our sleepy village LOL. ED is also back at uni, but she comes back fairly regularly so it’s never a heart wrenching moment. She asks if we’ve missed her and I normally say, well, not since last week when we last saw you!
Val asked about my health and, touching wood, everything is really good.im lucky not to have any aches and pains that I know a lot of bone mets ladies have so I hope that continues for a long time to come. I’d say I’m probably in much better health than I was 4 years ago when we (Lily, Lisa and some long lost buddies) were about the start our chemo. So I’m now ready to go back to a gym and am looking into some local ones. Probably not the one I used to belong to but another one which has a lot of classes I’d like to do like yoga and Pilates.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend, let’s hope the sun shines a bit more than it did last week.
