Grrrrrr, I made a long post this afternoon and lost it!!! So here goes again, trying to remember what I wrote before.
Lily I am pleased your Onc apt went well and your tumour markers are fab – mine haven’t ever been lower than 20 since 2008 – you’ll surely feel relieved that they will still look after you if you still need it, better than just closing the file down on you. So sorry to hear about your Mum who is also having problems with her health, they do make us worry don’t they.
Nicky, am glad for you too that your appointment eased your worries, good old Ibuprofen always works wonders. Hope you can take things easy and relax a bit now, when does your work stop for the holidays? I’ve PMd you about a possible date for a meet up in Portsmouth if you can fit it in, we can have a chat and a coffee? Well done for the OH Christmas cadging.
Lisa well don’t overdo it on the drinkipoos LOL but seriously when your headache has passed let us know how it went. Are you working right up to Christmas?
Val, as always thinking of you and offering kind hugs. I was really shocked to see your post about Geewhiz, I used to talk to her a bit in her early days as we both lived in Oman for a while.
I had my usual “hole” viewing today, it seems now the doctor has had enough (hey what about me?) and has decided it is time to call in the bacteriologists as he thinks that it might be a “chronic” infection. I asked about the difference between this and an ordinary infection and he said it is a deeper infection which is causing the inflammation and hot area around the hole. He has suggested an operation to take away all the nasty burnt skin and all the lumps and bumps in the area and to try and close the hole but he won’t operate until he knows what/if there is an infection and whether antibiotics will work. I’ve googled chronic infection although can’t seem to find much information other than it can be linked to cancer/radiotherapy and causes tiredness, general malaise and inflammation as well as pain – all of which I have. The tiredness is unbearable and I am not sleeping very well which doesn’t help, my legs just won’t stop jiggling at night. Anyway enough about me and my ailments.
We went to YD’s parents evening last night and was pleased that all the teachers are happy with her, they said she is a joy to have in their classes, so obviously we have a different child at school lol. What we did find out that is disappointing is that if she takes her degree in France to become a teacher here, she has to go where she is put so could end up in one of schools in the middle of Paris (for an instance) where there are a lot of problem children. I don’t mean that to sound bad but once in that school it could be 10 years or more before she is able to apply for a position of her choice. She also has to take dual nationality to do the degree, which isn’t a bad thing I know and could have some benefits but it has thrown the spanner in the works job wise for her. So in the New Year guess who will be googling to find out if a French degree is equivalent to a teaching degree in the UK, so that she might be able to choose where to go and work. I think it is supposed to be a democratic society and yes the freedom of choice of where she works in a school is not allowed! Hmmmm, rant over, we have plenty of time to gather information.
On that note I will close, but not before wishing you all a good weekend.
Love Carole xx
