DCIS intermediary with necrosis

Hello Im in France and Ive got a pre-op interview on Tue and,Im.afraid I wont know enough by then about my diagnosis and will get steamrolled into whatever they suggest. What are the treatment options Please? And what is the radio radiation ? That you can only have once in your life and will.I have to have it ? I guess,as its ‘in situ’ they wont be checking the lymph glands ? Thank you

Hi carol I am not sure if it’s different in France but I am sure they will check the lymph. Have you had your biopsy results? Just resent the surgeons do this all the time and have the best knowledge but ask lots of questions and if there are alternatives. Everyone’s journey is different and there are a lot paths to get to the end result. All the best on your roller coaster ride take care xx

Hi Thank you for this information. I had biopsy results - DCiS with level intermediary some necrosis no evidence of invasive cancer - the assumption from this is that its contained. I dont know how I know if it’s hormone receptor positive or not. Its 1cm - thats also good so I read. That is it likely to be caught very early

Hello cmiers14

Thank you for posting.

We’re not sure if you are on holiday in France or live there.

If you live in France, it is difficult for us to answer queries from outside of the UK because treatments vary so much between different countries as @lilo1973 says. Healthcare services are also set up differently.

You explain your appointment is tomorrow. It might be helpful to read about how DCIS is diagnosed, and how lymph nodes are assessed and treated in the UK. More information about radiotherapy can be found here. Whether someone can have radiotherapy more than once depends on the dose given and to what part of the body. It is usually given only once to the same part of the body. This information explains this further.

If you are in the UK, do call our helpline today if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. The helpline team have time to listen, talk things through and signpost you to more support and information if necessary. Your call will be confidential, and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks. The number is 0808 800 6000, (Relay UK -prefix 18001).

If you would prefer one of our nurses to call you. To do this, please complete this form ticking the box agreeing to a call back.
