Im 51 years old and diagnosed with DCIS on Tuesday.
After 3 months of my samples not being adequate amount of area & told it was looking positive . (3 x they attempted numerous biopsies) to be told its breast cancer hit me like a truck. Yes it’s not life threatening , (I haven’t been told a grade) but I feel flawed. I need to make a decision on what surgery to have but I’m struggling with my idea of post surgery imagine ( yes it sounds vain but my breasts were something my ex husband ridiculed I have only just accepted my breasts & now this ) I cant seem to find images of one reconstructed breast with one natural esp a natural one that is has breast fed 3x … or a breast post lumpectomy and radiation treatment. Literally my head is buzzing. I really do sound shallow esp when all I find is woman post full mastectomy brimming with positivity and heres me fretting over my post surgery body. If you had asked me post cancer diagnosis id have just said whip it off now its reality its such a diiferent scenario. Idon’t think coming off hrt ( only on a year since I started ) has helped as my anxiety has returned with a vengeance.
