DCIS treatment

I had a lump show up on a CT scan. Had it biopsied was just a lump. When they did surgery to remove it they found one in duct ever small all contained. It was removed with 2mm margins.

Now they are suggesting radiation treatment and some kind of drug treatment for five years.

Is all this really necessary I’m 65.

Good morning Bodog,

Thinking of you, pleased your surgery is done, the reason for radiotherapy is to clear up any debris left behind after surgery, the medication will be hormonal which is quite normal after the type of surgery you have had, have a chat with your oncologists who puts your mind at rest, however I feel sure I will want you to go ahead with this treatment.

You say you’re 65 but it’s still quite young and you’ve got a lot of living to do I wish you well going forward with an excellent outcome.

come back and let us know how your getting on.
