HI. I have been diagnosed with dcis, however there was a minute cluster of cell on one node out of 4. I had a mascotomy and the Dr is saying they treat this type of node as a negative node ? I am worried I need chemo I am 48 , i know there risk with chemo. Worried, worried worries

Hi Donna, it’s highly unlikely you will be offered Chemo with your diagnosis, to my knowledge it’s never given for pure DCIS and as your node is being treated as negative there would be no reason there either, I guess you are still awaiting your final results following your mastectomy as you don’t know if or what treatment will be recommended? Xx Jo
The worst part of all of this Donna is the waiting for results. The masectomuy has hopefully removed all of the DCIS and no further treatment will be needed. Negative sounds good! You will soon now so try not to worry xx
Just to add Donna, I have read that if you are being treated as node negative, this does not make a difference to the long term prognosis.

Yes my full path showed only dcis , however with a cluster of cell in one node. My taking is the cluster is so so small it could not be measured. So the oncologist is saying it is normally viewed as a negative my research of little I can find on this says it is it could be with way.
Thank you xoxo…
Thank for everyone for there reply, I guess by biggest question is , as the minute cluster normally treated as a negative node ? All my research that i have done, say a it is uncommon ? And some say it should be consider a poatice other sites say negstive.
Donna -you could ask this question in the Ask the nurses section .
Thank you
