Hi! I was diagnosed with DCIS two weeks ago and had a wide incision breast operation on Friday. I am feeling very low and tired after the anesthetic, but I did come home on the same day and I have not experienced much pain. I don’t have the results of my op back yet, so I am not sure what further treatment might be necessary, if any. Keep your chin up, you will get through it and contact me if you think it might help.
Hi i was diagnosed with DCIS end of Sept.I had sentinel nodes removed begin of Oct which were clear.Had my mastectomy done a month ago now along with reconstruction.I’ve just been told that i now need radiotheraphy as they didn’t get clear margins and there was also microinvasion.I’m trying to keep positive which is’nt easy.I’m still a little tearful and get upset over the smallest of things. It does feel like a nightmare,a rollercoaster of horrible events that keep coming at you. Some days are good some are dark.Today i’m on a bit of a downer … sorry. These forums are really helpful and keeping in touch with people who understand is uplifting.Good luck with your results.Take one day at a time.

Hi
I was diagnosed with DCIS in April, I had a mastectomy in June. I was in hospital for 4 days. I felt rough for a fortnight but then recovered quickly and have been back in work full time since September. I was lucky - they removed everything with the mastectomy so I have needed no further treatment.
Take one day at a time. You will get a lot of support on this web site.
I wish you all the very best. Thinking of you.

I had DCIS 4 years ago and opted for a mastectomy. I could have had a wide excision followed by radiotherapy but didn’t want it. A few small problems with my implant but no other problems whatsoever. I feel absolutely fine now. Believe me, the “bad dream” will pass and you’ll be fine too.
