December 2025 chemo starters

Hi @evicting_00_squatter I’m currently having the 5 rounds v 15 rounds, I have to admit that I didn’t know until today that they equal the same. I just assumed that the 5 was less than the 15; which I now know isn’t accurate.

That’s promising to hear. I wonder if it depends on the hospital or something more to do with stage/type/receptors xx

Jumping in from the Feb thread as I saw my oncologist this week to talk through radiotherapy after chemo. She explained the rationale for 15 vs 5 - basically there have been studies on doing 5 at a higher dose and they have shown to be just as effective. HOWEVER the data is not that old, so they don’t have long term data like they do for 15. She said she generally recommends 5 sessions to patients in their 60s/70s but for younger patients they err on the side of caution as don’t yet have the long term data.

Made sense to me at the time and hope I explained it well

The “squatters” have finally been “evicted”

My surgeon seemed happy with how it all went and I’m home, so just the two week wait for pathology now. :crossed_fingers:t2:

Hi everyone! How are you all getting on with last chemo side effects, post surgery recovery and radiotherapy?

I had my first radiotherapy session yesterday and also started taking my letrozole! I actually found the radiotherapy waiting area more daunting than the chemo ward. It was the first time I felt like everyone was looking at me wondering why I was there. I guess being 33 and still having my hair is not the usual cancer patient but it’s tough feeling like an odd one out.

I also decided this week was time to return to the gym which has been nice to start slowly returning to normal life. It is my birthday on Friday too so I’m looking forward to some meals out with my husband and friends this weekend!

Hello lovely! Happy birthday to my fellow Taurean! Hope you’ve some delicious eating ahead!

My radio waiting room has so far-12 rounds in-consisted entirely of older men & not a single other woman except for on one day. Even at 50 I’m significantly younger than everyone else too.

Sounds like you’re doing brilliantly with going out & to the gym & starting your letrozole-I’m being all controlling about it & saying June 1st is fine (?!) to start & seems biophosphates & abemaclibib won’t be until July-it’s a lot mentally when we just want to feel normal but know these should help us going forward despite all the possible side effects.

Have a lovely time on Friday x

Happy birthday for Friday :birthday_cake: Enjoy your meal.

I’ve still got some issues with food aversions to my old favourite foods. I’m eating better but still not really enjoying food like I used to. I used to love eating out but it’s still not appealing.

Surgery recovery is going ok, feeling quite anxious about my sentinel node results in particular. Although all MRIs and US were clear originally.

My head has a nice thick covering of regrowth now. I can’t believe it’s six weeks tomorrow since my last chemo!

@bally8 Happy birthday for this week! Totally relate to the waiting room I’ve not seen anyone anywhere near my age either but it’s not being a scary experience I’m on route to number 8 now, hair is starting to sprout which is a relief I just wish it would grow a bit faster! Xxx

Gym is going well and I’m down 5lbs since end of chemo 6 weeks ago, only another 2stone to go

@emilyxxx Oh that’s brilliant-well done you!

l’m up on my last chemo weigh in despite eating really well this past few weeks but with a damaged vein picc arm & frozen shoulder on the other side I know I’m a bit limited on what I can do exercise wise currently. Meh!

& seriously can the hair growth get a move on please?! & eyelashes whenever you’re ready…

Oh yes my eyebrows and lashes have left the building since chemo finished… over it now, ready for regrowth please! Xx

Oh happy birthday season to you too!

Yea it was all men yesterday, One guy told the radiographer he was really nervous and it made me realise we are probably all feeling exactly the same way.

I felt a weird sense of camaraderie in the chemo ward as all the ladies were in for primary breast cancer treatment whereas radiotherapy it is everyone.

I’m not sure when I will be starting the biophosphonates but I’m still getting phesgo injections so hopefully I can get it on the same day to save a trip to the hospital.
