Has anyone with Occult Breast Cancer, oestrogen positive and HER2, refused chemotherapy and Trastuzumab, post-Axillary Node Clearance? I don’t know if I want to put myself through all that and I’m not convinced that I’d benefit massively from it. It sounds as though it does more harm than good. I’m 78 and I have to make a decision in the next couple of days.
Dear Mahi,
So sorry to read you post, I can’t offer any help with making a decision, however I can understand were your coming from and would probably feel the same as you, as there is only so much we can take with all the treatment and medication.
Was wondering if you would call the breast cancer on this site, who are very kind and understanding they would be able to point you in the right direction. (0808 800 6000)
Wishing you well, going forward with lots of health and happiness.
Hugs Tili
Dear @magl whilst I cannot match your situation exactly ( I had IDC grade 3 Er+ her2+ on biopsy and her2- after mastectomy) I did have 4 rounds of EC chemo but refused paclitaxel. I started trastuzumab but stopped at 9 injections. I was 65 yrs old at diagnosis and have type I diabetes. My decisions were all about quality of life.
Macmillan have an excellent booklet called Making Treatment Decisions which I would recommend. Gather as many facts as you can. Think it all through carefully and talk to the nurses on the macmillan and breast cancer now helplines. If you have a local Maggies centre do go and talk to one of the nurse/counsellers there too. And also your treatment team.
Every patients cancer is unique as is every patient so what is right for you is unlikely to be the same as anyone else. Having said that I hope my response has been helpful and I wish you all the very best going forward. You will know when you have made the right decision for you when you have peace in your heart and mind. With love from Tulip x
Hello @magl
Maybe you don’t need to put yourself through treatment, Some choose not to. When I went through my cancer treatment of chemo at the same time I did some exploring and found there are people out there who did natural remedies rather than chemo.
There’s a guy call Chris Wark, you can find him on Facebook and google, he has a program called square One and it is free to watch this month. He can give tips on what to do if you decide not to go ahead with treatment. His cook book. beat Cancer Kitchen is really good too
Hope all goes well for you and that you enjoy the juiced carrots and lime. Delicious
