Hi
I’m scheduled to have a lumpectomy on 31/7 , I’m aware the Junior Doctors strike will finish 7am 30/7.
Does anyone know or had experience of what happens re strikes, do things keep going as it’s cancer or does it cause delays?
Thank you all xx

I had my surgery in 2023 in Wales and only saw a consultant breast surgeon and a consultant anaesthetist. If it was me I would call the breast nurse who works with your surgeon and have a chat to settle your mind.

I had my surgery during the drs strike in 2023. Neither the surgery team or the oncologists took strike action. This was in north london x
Hi, I had surgery during the Dr’s strike in 2023 and at that time cancer treatment was not affected by the strikes. If unfortunately you are affected the hospital will be in contact with you but fingers crossed you will have surgery as planned.
I was due to have my surgery on 5th .January 2024. It was cancelled as my surgeon had to work in a&e and then took place on 31st January 2024. A worrying few extra weeks. I won’t add my views on these strikes.
