I had my lumpectomy and SNB on 16 September.
An appointment was made for me to go back tomorrow (29th) to see the surgeon.
I asked if my results would be back by then and was told yes.
I’ve just had a phone call cancelling the appointment as results aren’t back.
Of course I’m frantic with worry now thinking something is wrong or complicated or something.
Is this normal? Should I be worrying or is this just one of those things. I can’t get through to anyone to ask questions.

Waiting for results is the hardest thing and no wonder you’re feeling anxious.
There are many reasons why there could be a delay. But maybe the most likely one is that they are short staffed and it hasn’t been looked at yet.
Try to do something tonight to take your mind off it. Is there a bcn that you could call in the morning? Also, the nurses on this website are excellent, so you could give them a call too.

Hi Hants girl….it’s rubbish when this happens…but could be any number of reason….short staff in histology department ( results always need 2nd checking ) ….cancelled MDT meeting ( they don’t normally give results until they’ve been reviewed by a full MDT and a treatment plan agreed)…… I would take the explanation at face value….sorry you having to wait longer though ….it’s horrible I know….you psyche yourself up for a certain date….then the goal posts shift….hope you’re not waiting too much longer
