I had WLE and SNB on 14th April after diagnosis of invasive ductal carcinoma grade 2.
I have spoken to BN today and she says that due to bank holidays and workload my results will not be discussed by the team until at least next Tuesday, with an appointment to discuss after that.
I have read that a lot of women get their results quite quickly.
The delays are driving me mad, and i am experiencing all sorts of aches and pains which is making me terrified the cancer has spread!
The BC is going to book me some reiki sessions, has anyone else experienced long wait for oncology appointments, or received reiki treatments?
I feel so stressed at the moment, i thought i was doing well but now feel like i am on slippery slope into despair.
I am so sorry you are having to wait so long for your results, anyone in this situation knows that the waiting is torturous. I have no advice other than to take them up on whatever they offer to help reduce your stress levels.
I am so sorry to hear that you have to wait so long for your results. Its really hard isn’t it? I had my wle on Tuesday 15th April. Originally when seeing the surgeon about my op she said I would come back to see her today…the 30th. The hospital have told me that all results come back from pathology on a wednesday and they hold a big meeting early in the morning to discuss each case. When I went in for my op I was told I would get an appointment time in the post for Friday 2nd. This week is going so dreadfully slowly and although after the op my sleep had improved I am now back to sleepless nights and lying awake thinking all manor of things. I know whay you mean about second guessing every ache and pain, so I completely understand how you are feeling and now to be told there is a further delay…well you just wonder how you will get through each day don’t you.
I would take them up on whatever they offer…I have had reiki before and it was very relaxing!
I hope you don’t have to wait too long. I got a NHS text reminder today…don’t forget your appointment on Friday at 2.30. Oh the irony! Forget!? Its all consuming and all I can think about.
Sorry to hear you are both waiting a while for your results, the waiting is awful isn’t it and the nearer it gets the less I found I could sleep at night. I had to wait 18 days for my results in March.
So sorry you are being kept waiting for results. Can only imagine what this is doing to your stress levels.
I go in for my WLE and SNB tomorrow and I am seriously freaking out! I got my appt for results when I went for my pre-op last week. It is for 9 May so just a week after op. I am assuming I will get all results then? Slightly worried now that it will be delayed or not all info will be ready.
I am already in a state as the first thing I will be checking when I come round after op is if I have a drain - obviously I will then know that it has spread to lymph nodes. Driving me crazy the not knowing.
I hope you can stay calm and the time passes quickly until you get results. We seem to be wishing the days away don’t we!
I have been trying to arm myself with as much information as possible in preparation for whatever they might tell me tomorrow, so that whatever the news I am able to deal with it better, I don’t know how much it will help. Feel convinced at the moment that they won’t have got clear margins and I will have to go under the knife again. If this is the case does anyone know how quickly they do the second op and if you have to have the wire again? Trying to positive but when you read that 1 in 3 women don’t have clear margins then I don’t feel like the odds are in my favour…they certainly haven’t been so far! Sorry if this is bit of a negative post, the waiting is seriously messing with my brain!
Good luck poppet for your op tomorrow. I was worried about mine but found that it wasn’t as bad as I had feared. Will be thinking of you.
Hi Princessbear
I will be thinking about you tomorrow when you go for your results. Hope it is the news that you are hoping for. Please let us know how you get on. You know that whatever the result you will have everyones support on this forum.
Take Care

Good luck with your results tomorrow. I did similar to you, armed myself with all the senarios of no clear margins etc. I think it helps to be prepared before you go. What I can say is my consultant told me before the op that 1 in 20 had to have second op for unclear margins, not 1 in 3, so those are better odds lol.
