I am currently having Radiotherapy treatment for Breast Cancer and I need 2 dental implants. Has anyone had dental implants following Radiotherapy for Breast Cancer? What research/advice were you given around this? Was it successful? I am worried about the risk of Osteoradionecrosis (irreversible bone death). My dentist is happy to do it but wants the go ahead from my Radiotherapy Consultant. I have a meeting with my consultant tomorrow and any help on what questions to ask etc would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance
Hi Angela
Sorry that you havent had a response yet. It could be that no one has had this experience and so is unable to share that with you. I hope the meeting with your consultant went well. If you feel able, please do let us all know how you get on.

Hi Anna, thank you for your comment. Yes I bet with the Oncologist and as it is my Breast that is being radiated he said there is no risk of Osteoradionecrosis and advised I can go ahead with my implants…if it was head or neck being radiated then the risk is very high as well as if one is on Bisphosohonates. Hope this helps others but always speak to your Dentist and Oncologist for advice xx
