i just made appt to go dentist thursday b4 i have chemo im scared to death of dentist but want them to do a clean up b4 i start chemo can they do anything while i have picc line in .i feel stupid asking thiss question but dont no what to do? x thanks xx
Yes - they can do all procedures with your PICC line. The only reason they suggest going to the dentist before starting chemo is that if you have to go during chemo you are more susceptible to infection.
I hate the dentist too! But it wont be as bad as you imagine!! Hope it goes well.

I went to the dentist before starting my chemo to get everything in order. Although you can have treatment during cheno they prefer you not too because of infection risk. My dentist was really kind and supportive, he fitted me in for appointments so everything was done in good time and i am sure that your dentist will be the same.
the only downside was that all through the treatment when my mouth was wide open so I could not respond he kept muttering, poor you, poor you. I was tempted to bite hios finger off and say, oh dear poor you!
My advice would be go the dentist now so you have less to worry about during chemo and if the dentist upsest or hurts you bite his/her finger explaining it away by your current emotional state, I wish I had so go on do it for me!
