I have had recon but still remember the heart ache of looking for comfortable bras everywhere you go they are all padded or very low at cleavage I wish someone
would design a bra for our comfort after op and taking onboard a bit of give under
the arms by the end of the day you swell I am trying to see if I can contact
our local University Textile side give me luck
I had a WLE but I spend ages looking for comfy bras without seams or wiring - anything like that is bad for my scar and aggravates it. I also have to be careful of lace. It’s 18 months since I finished rads, but I still get a bit of redness on that side and lacy bras can irritate. I wore sports bras for ages as they were the only thing I felt comfy and supported in, I still do this when I ache a bit. I don’t have a huge bust either, 36C.
Cherub I am sure there are alot of us women in the same situation I just wonder why it is so overlooked forget the badges tshirts etc lets see if anyone can come up with a design for us
because like you even though I have had recon it still swells under my arm at nights and wired bras are not comfy
What a good idea! I have only had a small lump removed but find any bra horrible to wear. It catches me right in the scar which is just in the natural crease under the breast. The only one I have found is a horrible granny one (like the old "Miss Mary bras) which is longer in length but its so frumpy I only wear it when necessary. Surely someone could design a bra which has a lot more padding or softer material where the wires or seams are to protect the scars. I have even tried putting in a folded up hanky to pad out the wire, which works in terms of comfort but looks silly. good luck, you might be on Dragon’s Den!
Thanks Cathy59 When I went for nipple tattoing on sunday I spoke to the sister on our recon ward who is excellent she told me of a bra factory to try in Desborough so
I will give them a call thought about contacting Trinny and Suzanna Dragons Den have Men on the panel but it is somenting to try worth a go but I am sure you
know in your mind what comfort you need out of a bra and I know what I would like and it all sounds the same comfy material and expanding support for during the
day to release as the day gose on so lets watch this space
What a problem it is for us all - we can fly a man to the moon but seem unable to design a pretty/sexy comfortable bra which meets our needs. Maybe II should take the advice given to me yesterday by the assistant in M & S - “perhaps you would be better looking in the childrens department dear where you will find some crop tops” - really useful - didn’t know whether to laugh or cry!!
Think I might have to change my profession and look into design.
Best wishes to you all.
