Afternoon Louise, or should that been good evening… a hard day’s graft over a hot sewing machine, definitely need a drink, white wine spritzer please, or do i assume it’s self service tonight?
Sorry Annmarie, didn’t see you come in, was too busy looking in the fridge for the ice.
Hi all
in from a hard days work lol … another boring day on reception but back to my own desk tomorrow so that should be an improvement.
Pimms please - yep, I’ve got a taste for it now.
Louise - sorry that you had to endure your family, sounds like the vodka was in desperation.
Anyone got any exciting plans for tonight?
A Pimms for starters, that’s a good idea Lilac, particularly if I don’t have to cut up all the fruit myself.
Evening’s exciting entertainment is cooking supper of some sort, and watching Old Tricks on the telly. Thought we were out to friends for supper, but it’s been shifted to next week. Damn!
And I’ve finished my books, and won’t be here when the mobile library comes tomorrow, so will have to dig about for something to read, or raid the Oxfam shop in town tomorrow.
One of the books was quite strange, bit like a Gothic novel, but written now, if you see what I mean. Called The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. I’ve googled her to see if she’s done anything else, looks like there’s another underway, but not yet available.
YOU ALKIES!!!
I’ll have a Diet Coke please bar steward, as I have a temperature. Which is fun. Cannae show up drunk at the hospital if it climbs!
Here’s to you all - hope you all had a good day
Btw Magsi - glad you had a good time - sorry the midges bit - I always chuckle when they bite - imagine them glowing in the dark and producing sick offspring thanks to the chemo infected blood!
Hi Westie,
Was listening to a programme today about sheep farming and thought of you… one bit was about this zany granny who got in her car with a load of slaughtered sheep and hiked them round the posh restaurants to show them what real lamb should be like! It worked tough, so more power to her elbow.
You could have a drink here, that wouldn’t affect you, what do you fancy?
oh go on then - I’ll have a black beard please. I’ve transported boxes full of dead butchered sheep in the back of the landy before, selling it to colleagues at work in the carpark! I’ve also had live lambs in dustbins strapped to the passenger seat to take em to the vet! My car smells funny.
My neighbour is supplying lamb to the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh (dead posh, a major coup).
I shouldnt moan its all usual mother / daughter stuff. MMMMMMMMMMN that lamb sounds good. Im using the New Zealand stuff just w as it is so much cheaper. We can only charge so much unlike the Balmoral
NEW ZEALAND??? I must put poison in your drink tomorrow night!!! ARGH! I think you’ll find if you do a deal directly with a local producer (farmer) you’ll get it for well under £5 a kilo
Realy we only use 10 k a week max. We are full of aeggies
I meant Veggies see me and this virtual vodka
Hi Imlauder, I get my lamb from an old college friend of a neighbour, she farms in Derbyshire, and every so often does a delivery of fresh frozen lamb, if you see what I mean, and has started doing beef too. It’s a bit dearer than the shops, but tastes SOOO much better, and is delivered to the door. The neighbours all put in orders, you can have individual joints, or share half a lamb or whatever. Where are you, we’re Herts/Essex borders.
PS Remind me never to accept a lift in your car Westie, at least mine is only covered in bits of fabric and the occasional stray pin.
I love lamb aslong as its roasted, racked, os shish kebabed. The local the better but at work we have a budget and nominated suppliers, I could make enquiries though as the more organic or natural the better…
Oh silver sue Im in Edinburgh
Evening all, I have tried in vain to catch up in all I missed over the last few days, I started at page 46 got to page 62 and gave up.
I believe we are all working out the finer details of the lakes, my pc kept dying so that is another reason I haven’t been on that and the relay.
I think we have a date set, Jen was talking small hotel but I am sure there are places that can accommodate more than 12 us
good grief Lisa - you’d nearly caught up by then. Missed you - glad you’re back
I thought of “retreats”, dunno if Jen mentioned it - we could take the whole place over. Not necessarily religious.
Just an idea
