Diagnosed 3rd January

I have posted this on behalf of new user Wendy
Kind Regards
Katie

I’m 43 and was diagnosed on 3 January, had a WLE and lymph node clearance on 14th Jan and got the results last Thursday - Grade III cancer, lymph nodes clear and I’m suitable for hormone treatment. Will find out on Friday if I also need chemo. Don’t know about anyone else but the waiting for test results and what treatment I’ll need has been the hardest thing for me so far although I have to say that everyone at the hospital have been amazing.

I’ve read lots of messages on the site and it’s lovely to see how supportive everyone is.

Hi Wendy (via Katy)

I too am 43 and was diagnosed on 24th December. Had WLE excision and axillary lymph node clearance on 3rd January. DCIS and 4mm invasive carcinoma Grade II and one lymph node involved. Due to start chemo 11th Feb (dreading it) followed by more surgery to retrive remaining DCIS (marjins not clear) and then radiotherapy followed by Zolodex and Tamoxifen.

I just thought we had both age and type of surgery in common, as well as diagnoses being around the same time.

I have managed to retrieve a massive amount of information on most aspects of breast cancer and would be more than happy to share it with you.

Look forward to hearing from you should you wish. Wishing you good luck for Friday.

Kind regards.

Janey

Hi Wendy

So sorry you have had to join us here - but welcome - you will find tons of support and encouragement as you go through the various stages of treatment - I know I did!

I was diagnosed last Nov, had mastectomy and full node clearance, Grade 3 with 5/11 nodes affected, er/pr neg HER2 positive - my treatment regime involves 4 x Fec chemotherapy, 16 radoitherapy sessions, 4 x taxotere chemo followed by a year of herceptin.

I think if you read the threads on here you will find that the majority of people agree with you - the waiting is the worst part.

Good luck for Friday - if you find that you do need chemo there are several very good threads on here for helping you to cope. I am just about to finish my cycle of fec (last tomorrow ) - whilst it isn’t particularly enjoyable, it is certainly very do-able.

Please keep posting and let us know how you get on

take care

Hi Wendy,
Well it must be in the name - thought I was reading about myself. I’m 46 and got diagnosed on the 15th - since then its all been a blur. Go in for the op on Thursday. They’ve already told me that I’ll need chemo so I reckon we’ll be going through things at about the same time. Waiting for the results was awful but now I feel that everything is out of my hands. Wishing you good luck. Let me know when your op is.

Hi wendy, wendy and janey,
Sorry you have had to join us.
I was dx in jan 04 aged 43, grade 3 12mm tumour, WLE, no nodes involved, no vascular invasion, clear margins,…had chemo, radio’ and now on Tamoxifen.
I was told the chemo was because of the high grade and my age.

Yes waiting for the results is a complete nightmare…sleepless nights…and mind going into over-time with the gremlins crawling into it.

You will find alot of support on these forums though.

Do keep in touch.

Take care
