I’m 38 and was diagnosed with breast cancer 3weeks ago, after feeling like my world had just ended I managed to put things into perspective, I have tried to remain so positive but the longer the results take the less confident I feel. I had a biopsy on my lymph nodes and they came back clear but the results from my MRI did show up shadowed areas on the other breast but couldn’t determine what they were so I now have to go for another ultrasound and if they want to do a biopsy I will have to wait another week ? has anyone else had this x
I was told I had high suspicion of breast cancer after mammography / US & biopsy on 15/2 I originally found a lump in my armpit end of jan.
I went back for the biopsy results 27/2 to be told I had stage 1 breast cancer in the left breast- it was a huge & scary shock. I had not thought much about the tests etc, as we have just had my dads funeral on 1/3. So this is such a ———- year to say the least.
Mon 11/3- I’m having a dye injected to show my lymph nodes in preparation for my operation on the 12/3. I’m having a wide excision biopsy & removal of sentinental nodes. I will need 15-20 sessions radiotherapy- followed by Tamoxifen tablets.
Im still awaiting my her2 test to come back, I’m praying it’s negative as I am scared of having chemo and it’s side effects.
I’m not sure if different areas do different tests/ timeframes etc. But you would think they followed the same guidance/ protocols etc.
My way of dealing with things is to keep busy/ not think about too much. But once the kids & hubby in bed, I find myself reading up on lots of breast cancer facts/ sites.
Good luck with your tests & stay positive- it’s all we can do. Xx
It does seem an age when going through this, but what you describe is not unusual. Biopsy & scan results have to be read & reported on & generally take at least a week. Then other investigations can be ordered.
The most important thing is they have all the information to get the right treatment plan for you.
It’s horrible to go through it though, I remember it well!
Hi Kirsty, Sorry you find yourself here and welcome you to our lovely community. I just want to echo what others have said. The waiting is really hard but once the scans and tests are all complete the treatment plan will swing into action. Don’t feel you have to be positive all of the time. Being positive is better for your mental health if you can achieve it but it’s ok to have darker thoughts too. I promise you will laugh again. It just hard to believe right now. Xxx
Yes, I had biopsy then mastectomy 2 weeks later with sentinel node biopsy. Got the results from that 2 weeks later. Needed an MRI on the remaining breast. Had that 2 weeks later. Got called in a week later, needed U/S guided biopsy on remaining breast. Got results 2 weeks later, cancer in that breast as well. 4 weeks later another mastectomy with clearance of nodes on original side.
All the hanging about waiting for results isthe worst bit. I’m over halfway through chemo now, still have radio to come.
