I was diagnosed two weeks ago with grade 3 TNBC. One lymph node affected. PET scan tomorrow which I’m dreading even every doctor says its highly unlikely to shiw more. A huge shock like an out of body experience. Settled into thinking of what’s ahead. Saw my oncologist yesterday and treatment starts next week. Yikes. Totally threw me back into out of body. Seems such a long haul with 6 months chemo.
it just seems real now. To be faced.
Welcome Rachel . It certainly is a surreal experience being diagnosed with cancer , like it’s happening to someone else or you have been transported to a parallel universe !
It will become less overwhelming . You will get lots of support going through chemo if you join one the chemotherapy monthly threads , I will post you the link to the June thread. Best wishes Jill x
@Shi any words of wisdom ?
@rachel60
hello
like you I was diagnosed with grade 3 TNBC in Feb 21. Definitely an out of body experience! It turned my world upside down.
6 months does feel an awful long time, even a day for me was sometimes an eternity. I kept myself busy researching all sort’s including how I could make the chemo more effective and also how to deal with the side effects. I pushed myself to get out and walk, to see people and chat. My aim was 2 30 minute speed walks a day, some days a snails pace for 5 minutes was the limit.
I kept a journal too, to record my progress, feelings, achievements.
I had 4 EC and 12 Paclitaxel and am now 20months cancer free.
Hope your 1st treatment was bearable for you. The 6 months will pass and chemo will eventually be a memory. Wishing you well and sending hugs xx
