Hi everyone,
Today i was told , by telephone as i am on holiday in Alaska, that my biopsy result has come back as cancerous…
The nurse has told me that , at present, its has no grade… as the cells are not developing outside of themselves , and its been caught very early…She almost talked as if its just an annoyance that needs dealing with …i had a routine mammogram on 17th april, (oddly, and luckily i guess, i was called up 8 months early for no reason, as my last one was fine) and then went for another one, plus ultra sound and biopsy a few days later, Everythings going so fast, i am booked for an MRI scan, she said its so the surgeons know where to find it when they remove it.
Im scared, what can i expect to happen next ??
Will they do more tests on the tumour, to see what treatment i will have, so far, shes just saying surgery and maybe radiotherapy.
is it age related (im just 55 )
im not ready to stop living my life yet
Dear Bambam,
So sorry to read your post, we have all been there and we are here for you, one step at a time.
As regards your treatment, everything what you have said is in place at the moment and your next step is an MRI. I know this all sounds so frightening at the moment and unfortunately you had to get your results on the telephone, it does sounds as though the hospital are looking after you, when you return home, you’ll have your MRI and see your consultant and they’ll have a plan in place for you.
What you have said, it sounds like you are going to have a lumpectomy followed by radiotherapy nobody wants to have surgery when I had a lumpectomy it was just a day case in early and home by tea time fingers crossed for you.
Wishing you well, going forward with lots of health and happiness ahead
biggest hugs to you Tili
Hi there!!
What the nurse has told you will be what will occur…after the MRI, you should then have the surgery, then radiation starting several weeks afterwards. My identical twin sister was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, grade 1. The surgeon talked to her and said she will have a lumpectomy and radiation. She just had an MRI last week and the surgeon said that she will have to take less tissue off than she had originally thought, as the tumor is not close to the nipple (as they had originally thought, due to how it felt upon examination). Hang in there. I have 5 friends right now who have had breast cancer in the past 15 years (some more recently, some further back) , several had chemo/surgery/radiation, several had lumpectomy/radiation/hormone meds, and several had a mastectomy on one side (no radiation or chemo). They are all fine now. Take this as positive news for you! Has your surgery been scheduled yet?
Hugs,
Janet
