Hi Ladies, found lump on 2 November had biopsy etc. and told today it is cancer, need op to remove lump after CT scan to find out if lymph nodes are affected. Scared witless but after reading some of this forum you have put me to shame. Thanks for being there!
Hi Campo,
Welcome to the Breast Cancer Care discussion forums, you’ve come to the right place for some good support as the many informed users of this site have a wealth of knowledge and experience between them.
While you are waiting for replies I have put for you below the link to one of BCC’s publications you might find helpful. Also if you ever need a good listening ear, then he helpline team are here to support you through this. Calls are free, as are all BCC’s publications and services, 0808 800 6000, lines open Mon-Fri 9-5 and Sat 9-2. I hope this helps.
Take care,

Hi Campo,
I was in your place on 21st Dec - scared beyond belief. Since then Ive had surgery, have started hormone treatment and waiting to start radiotherapy. And I feel a million times better knowing what Im dealing with.
Your initial reaction is panic, but you do get some handle on it very quickly, and the more info you get the better it is to get it straight in your head. Use this forum -even if you dont post much, just reading the posts helps. And DONT GOOGLE! - there is so much rubbish online -stick to sites like this. Have you been allocated a breastcare nurse yet? They are brilliant and can really help with the panics and the uncertainty. Believe me - there are so many variables with this disease - and so much they can do for you - its really not so black and white. PM me if you want to chat further
take care

Hello Campo,
so sorry you have to join our club, but I hgope you will find lots of support and infomration as well as some real belly laughs here.
We understand the scared witless, we’ve been there, so don’t apologise for that. Where you are now is the worst - the waiting and wondering, all the ‘what ifs…’ but once you’ve had the scans and got a full treatment plan it will feel less daunting and you will get some control back.
In the meantime try to avoid google - you can scare yourself with some of the twaddle that’s out there. Stay with BCC, MacMillan or Cancer Research UK. Ask us any questions, nothing is too silly. And choose carefully which threads you read - your brain has enough to cope with coming to terms with diagnosis and you are vulnerable so don’t read anything you don’t need to.
I hope you are able to get some sleep tonight, and soon feel better equipped to face what lies ahead of you.
Take care.
<<hug>>
Hi Campo
So sorry you have to join us here, it really is scarey and overwhelming at the start. I just wanted to echo what has been said, you will find lots of support and info on here, post as much as you need to and everyone will help you along this journey. Once you have a better idea of what you are facing and your treatment plan you will feel a little more control and it will get easier to deal with.
Big hugs to you

Dear All
Thank you for all your comments. My husband is being an absolute brick but I am not letting my mother or mother in law know anything until I have too, as my mother in law has been dealing with breast cancer for the past two years and has secondary cancer which is in remission just now. My own mother has her own health issues and of course she needs support. So I am not telling any other family members or friends to protect them. You have just made my world a lot less lonely. Thank you. xxx
