Hi Ladies,
This is my first post. Was recalled after 2nd routine mammogram 2 weeks ago. Calcification found & after biopsy No1 was told that there was high grade pre cancer cells within ducts, with possible other area which was unclear, but possible mastectomy needed if extensive. So after further mammograms, ultra sound & biopsy No2 saw the consultant yesterday who said that it was benign, however there was still an area that they were still un sure about and as I have had a breast lift in 2005, tissue had been moved around which is making the investigation difficult, (hope this makes sense!!). So have been booked in for wide local exision for next Thurs. Then I guess its a waiting game for results. I apparently cannot have any reconstruction until the wounds are healed and depending on results, which to say the least is devastating as i previously mention having a breast left which had such fantastic results & to have to wait for reconstruction, i’m not sure how i will cope. I know that I should focus on positives but finding it difficult, Thank you for reading.
Hi MsPuddleDuck
I’m sorry to read you’re having a tough time at the moment. Whilst you wait for the other users to reply with their support you might find it helpful to give the BCC helpline a call and talk through how you are feeling with a trained member of staff. Here you can share your concerns with someone who will offer you a listening ear as well as emotional support and practical information. The number to call is 0808 800 6000 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 to 5pm and Saturday 10 to 2pm.
Best wishes Sam, BCC Facilitator
Hi Mspuddleduck
Sorry to hear your news and know how devastating it’s feels. I suppose everyone reacts in different ways. My reaction was to remove my breast due to the large area of calcification. I have opted for no reconstruction . Who know in a couple of years time I may have changed my mind and also medicine will have moved on. My. Theory is one step at a time. Hope this helps and good luck,
I had to have 2 biopsys and then was encouraged to have a lumpectomy, but on firther examination it became a mastectomy. But I did not have an other operative scarring and they felt I could have reconstruction. We are all different, and in hopsital I met ladies like you who were having to wait, and others who had chosen to wait because they wanted to be sure it was all clear.bhefore putting something else in
