Hi, this is my first post here. I was recalled for biopsies and scans after a routine mammogram. Last Friday I was diagnosed with DCIS and I am booked in for a left sided mastectomy in 2 weeks. I had a very emotional weekend and then had my pre-op with my wonderful breast care nurse Jo two days ago who explained everything. I cried, swore and laughed. I feel much more reassured about what is about to happen but I am wondering how other women have adjusted to their new body image. Many thanks Annie
Annie Sorry you find yourself on here but glad you’ve reached out to bcn and the forum. I am sure someone will be along soon to advise how they have adjusted to their new body image. I had a therapeutic memmoplasty and I’m still waiting to be levelled up but in the meantime I’ve levelled up the smaller boob with cushion stuffing in my bra and more recently found perfect form to level the smaller boob up from a company called trulife who are based in Sheffield. There is also knitted knockers, where volunteers knit different sizes and then kindly send them out free of charge Hope this helps and I’m sure others will pop on and help answer your question too soon Shi xx
