I found a small lump in my left breast 3 weeks ago, saw my the nurse at my surgery 2 weeks ago. Last week saw the surgeon and had all the necessary tests, went back on Wednesday and he told me that I had metaplastic cancer. I am having the operation on the 22nd December, and although I feel very fortunate at this time to be having my op so quickly after the diagnosis, I feel I need to contact people with the same type of cancer who are going through or have been through the process.
Dear Silverglo,
Firstly welcome to the forum, although it’s probably not the group you’d be wanting to be part of.
Secondly - big hugs. Everyone on here has been affected by breast cancer in some form or another and will be able to offer support, where appropriate. It’s not a nice thing to be going through.
I was diagnosed in Aug 2020, and because it had been picked up early, on routine mammogram, I have now had surgery and radiotherapy and am on hormone therapy.
You are very early in the process - my advice for now would probably be to take each day as it comes, there are likely to be many ups and downs, as you go through the journey. Try and shore up your support mechanisms. Some people will be good on the practical, others on the emotional. Do you have family/friends around you?
Do stay away from Dr Google - for any medical questions do consult your team/breast care nurse.
I hope this helps in some way. Do feel free to message further with any more questions.
In the meantime, take care of yourself X
