Diagnosed with Triple Negative in July this year

Hi I was diagnosed with triple negative Grade 3 in July, no lymph node involvement. Had mastectomy and start chemo in 3 weeks. Straight after my daughter’s wedding. Feels like a death sentence. Consultant talking about 5-10 years. There was so much to take in and I’ve forgotten what was said.

I had bc 24 years ago but this was a hormone receptive tumour, lumpectomy and chemotherapy.

Has anyone got positive outcomes, stories, Has anyone lived beyond 10 years following TNBC?

Thank you

Hi @2812 I am so sorry that you find yourself in such a situation. I am responding to you to suggest that you repost in the subcategory Triple Negative and Inflammatory Brest Cancer which you can find under the main category Diagnosed with Breast Cancer on the forum home page. This is because some women with TNC stick to that category as hearing about the tribulations of those of us on hormone therapy is irrelevant to them. New treatments are being developed all of the time so who knows how much better prognoses will be in a few years time. I truly wish you all the best through this journey.

I can’t give you a 10 year story but I am in my 3rd year despite having metastatic TNBC, in remission after immunotherapy. There is far more understanding of TNBC and there are treatments that weren’t available a few years ago. My particular TNBC is PD-L1 positive, which opened up the immunotherapy option. Wishing you all the best.

Thank you. Wishing you continued remission x

Hi,
I don’t know the full details of your diagnosis, but my understanding has always been that stage 3 is curable, so there’s a good chance it won’t come back and you’ll live a full life. It’s also good news that your lymph nodes are clear. I think if I was you I’d contact your breast care nurse for some clarification. I hope it all goes well for you.
Take care.
Lisa x

Thank you for the encouragement. Have you had personal experience of tnbc?

Hey!
I was diagnosed with TNBC in March this year. I too felt how you are feeling, like i had been handed a death sentence. However, I joined a group on FB called “triple negative breast cancer UK and Ireland (TNBC) support” and there are women on there who are 20+ years on from diagnosis.
TNBC is always seen as the scary breast cancer but it doesnt have to be, treatment is always moving forward and becoming better and the survival rate has increased so much. I really encourage you to join the group as there are so many positive posts. Stay off google too. I went on google and sent myself into a really deep depression because everything was so negative. Ive just finished chemotherapy, having surgery on the 1st and then radiotherapy. We can do this because we are strong!:sparkling_heart:
