I suppose like everyone here I was hoping I would never have to write this post. I’m 36 and was told yesterday I have invasive ductal carcinoma. ER 3/8 PR 0/8 waiting on HER2. Grade 3. Ultrasound suggests it hasn’t spread but have a ct scan schedule for a weeks time. Finding it hard not to worry that it has spread. Tumour is 3cm.
Just looking for other people with similar diagnosis as I am finding this limbo before treatment difficult.
Donna w sorry you find yourself on here, do use the someone like me option and speak to a nurse if you can by tuning the number on here Breast Cancer Now and all of us are here, take it day at a time, step by step others will pop on here too and share Shi xx
Hi Donna, I really understand how anxious and overwhelmed you’ll be feeling. I was diagnosed with Grade 3 triple negative breast cancer in June 22. I think clear, thorough scan procedures are followed by the hospital to ensure the right treatment plan for you. Talk to your breast care nurse and oncologist and I hope you will feel supported through the process. Take care Karen
Hi, I’m 37 and was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma in June this year. I had my mastectomy and lymph node clearance in August and found out that the tumour was 3.5cm with areas of DCIS and all but one of the lymph nodes was positive. Since then I found the wait the hardest part and limbo is definitely the right word for it! Every day is a different emotion and it’s upsetting and frustrating to name but a few. I found that using my local MacMillan centre really helped for support and they are always there for you if you need to talk as well as some ‘get it off my chest’ posts on here which gave me some great advice too!
I had a CT scan around 5 weeks ago which I kept asking for because I was terrified it had gone elsewhere, thanks to my overactive imagination. After an agonising 3 weeks it came back clear and I’m about to start chemo so still a way to go but now I’m armed with all the info the limbo part feels like a lifetime ago. You’ve got this! Take a day at a time and be kind to yourself (that’s the best advice I had). And as hard as it is try to focus on the what you already know and not let yourself fall down the rabbit hole of ‘what ifs’. X x x x
