Diagnosis in Feb now found out I need chemo

Hi everyone

I was diagnosed the day before my 45th birthday this year. Right breast lump about 4cm. I was advised I only needed it removed and a couple of lumphnodes removed then radiotherapy and tomoxifen. After my surgery they found some cancer cells in the lymphnodes and I niw need to have chemo. Strange that even though I am cancer free I feel devasted by the news of chemo. I feel so much guilt as I know I am lucky but I just want my life back thanks for listening. Stay strong xxx

Welcome to the forum . I’m so sorry youve not had the news you hoped for . I wish the nurses / doctors would stop misleading people really about their treatment plans as until all the results from your surgery and tests are in things can often change and then it’s a horrible shock .
There is lots of support here when you are going through chemo , join one of the monthly chemo threads and you can share tips and advice , have a good moan and even a laugh ( yes really !! ) . Chemo is an insurance policy to hopefully help you not have to go through this again , wishing you all the best Jill x

Chemotherapy (also called chemo) is a type of cancer treatment that uses drugs to kill cancer cells. … Chemotherapy works by stopping or slowing the growth of cancer cells, which grow and divide quickly.
