Hi ladies, just to update you all, I finally got my diagnosis on Friday. I have a completely new cancer in what was my non cancer boob! It’s IDC, ER+ (Her2 neg) grade 2, 2cms tumour. I’m having an ultrasound tomorrow on the armpit and collar bone lymph’s (and possibly a biopsy on the lymph’s depending on what they find) Onc says, I’ve been incredibly unlucky and that lightning really has struck twice. The positive is, that Herceptin hasn’t let me down as I had thought and that this is a spread of disease again, but I am worried that this new cancer is just going to try and find an alternative route to get me! The plan is to see the surgeon as soon as possible and I would like another mastectomy, but thats not a foregone conclusion despite my wants.I’m just all over the place again. On the one hand as a completely new cancer it means I can be treated in isolation for this rather than having to review the treatment for my existing secondary disease, but on the other hand I can’t help feeling that the cancer is just trying to find another way in! Has this ever happened to anyone else? Diagnosed with a completely different cancer in the other breast? ( I was diagnosed originally in 1999, with HER2 BC, and my secondary diagnosis Bones and liver in 2005). Thanks for any help you can give me.
