Diamond trial

hi everyone
I’m new here last year I was diagnosed with METAPLASTIC breast cancer and I thought I was all clear but have been recently told that has now metastasized to my lungs I have triple negative secondary breast cancer.
I was told I potentially only have a year and I’m a single mum to an almost 3 year old.
I met with the consultant at St Barts hospital for talks about the new trial called the Diamond trial it’s a new kind of immunotherapy called Durvalumab either on its own or with Datopotamab deruxtecan .

He said it’s having good results potentially better than the sacituzab but they haven’t treated many cases where cancer has spread within 6 months of the primary cancer I’m so scared I thought I’d feel more hopeful after speaking to him but I really don’t. Has anyone else had their cancer spread so quickly and are having good results with other treatments?or is there anyone on here who is taking part in the Diamond trial already. Many thanks

What a terrible time you are having.

My secondary breast cancer (in my bones) was diagnosed within 4 months of the Primary diagnosis. It was lobular & that spreads far more rapidly apparently.

I hadn’t heard of the Diamond Trial so can’t advise on that. I take Palbociclib, Letrozole, Denosumab & Adcal. I have been on these for two & a half years. Stable so far but still awaiting most recent CT scan results. Always a tense time.

Sorry can’t advise more than that but I wish you all the best with your treatment :hugs:

Thank you you too.

Hi,

I haven’t heard of the Diamond trial before, but I have had immunotherapy (pembroluzimab) for secondary TNBC with no success, however I know of at least one person on here for whom it was very successful in treating the TNBC but unfortunately had some severe side effects. I’m sure there are others who have had good results. For me, I moved on and have had some success with Capecitabine and then Trodelvy, so there are other options.

I’m sorry I can’t be any more helpful, but just wanted to acknowledge your post and send you good wishes. Any decision making is so hard, especially as everyone reacts to treatments so differently, but you can only be guided by your oncology team and your gut.

I hope it all goes well for you. Take care x

Hi thank you for your message, yes pembroluziumb and capacitabine didn’t work for me either with my primary meteplastic breast cancer so hoping that the new trial will.

Good luck with your treatment too.

Best wishes
