In 1994 I was diagnosed with intraductal breast cancer, stage 1. I had a lumpectomy followed by a masectomy ( after finding all stages of cancer cells in rest of breast)
I had chemo (CMF) and reconstruction via Tramflap. Then in 2001, I recurred, stage 2. This time I had more surgery, chemo (CAF), radiation and my ovaries removed to eliminate estrogen & prevent round 3. I was in remission for 23 yrs with only my scars as reminders. May 2024 Went to ER at noon with appendicitis, had no ins, surgeons refused to come in so I waited 22 hours for surgery. My appendix burst at 2 am and I developed sepsis & peritonitis. After i recovered, I was given Cat scan & pet scan. NOW I have stage 4 metastasis in my lungs & abdomen.

Welcome to the forum @aliza1 . You might also want to post in the Living with secondary breast cancer section of the forum to see if anyone else has had similar experiences ?
I don’t think anyone can tell you whether there is a definite link or not. Inflammation is never good for the body and there are some theories that it might help facilitate cancer growth but at this time that’s all they are is theories. I am so sorry this is happening to you though and I hope they find a medication pronto that stabilizes the growth. They have great things coming out all the time and it’s a totally different arena then when you were diagnosed last time so I am thinking that is very much in your favor.
