Did your periods return?

Im 28. And I finished my zodalex injections in September 2024.

So thats nearly 2 years. Ive not had a period at all. And prior to my cancer diagnosis in 2022 I was on the contraceptive implant and didnt have periods on that.

So roughly im looking at nearly 10 years with no periods. I used to get very light not regular spotting whilst on the implant but never full periods.

Has anyone else had their periods return or not return?

Myself and my partner have been together 8 years, engaged. Moved out together last year and now thinking about a family. I didnt have egg preservation due to the wait times to start and how it would delay chemo.

Any advice welcome. Thank you

Hiya Kirstie,

I’m so sorry your having to go through this at such a young age and having to think about periods and baby’s. I was diagnosed in 2022 as well and I’ve got the implant in. So I’ve not had a period for over 15years either I love it, so my implant should of been taken out about 2yesrs ago now but the doctor said it isn’t doing me any harm so I can leave it in. I was worried I would start my periods if the implant has ran out but no periods so far so I’m just leaving it in. The doctor said if I ever want it out she would come take it out for me. She said I have enough to deal with and doesn’t want me having to worry about periods as well as everything else.

So I wish you all the luck and hope you have no periods. I’m here for when ever you want a chat. Sonia xx

@KirstieF Hope you are good!

I’m finding that information about periods and fertility after BC treatment is hard to come by. I got told all the information about what treatment can do to fertility but nothing on how to find out and check whether I had been impacted.

I wasn’t on zodalex so I’m not in the same situation as yourself. I finished chemo in October and my period retuned in January. Currently trying to find out what it means in terms of my fertility going forward.

Hi I was on zoladex for five years .

Had endometriosis at a young age left with a quarter of a ovarie,finished treatment and periods returned.

Good luck getting pregnant
