Can anyone help with a small problem I have encountered with a wound , I have seen the GP who treated it as a infection but was not concerned (didnt even swab it), went to the Plastics dressing clinic who also didnt seem bothered, got my local BC Nurse to swab it and it came back as no infection. At the moment its still weeping (under the armpit area) and being treated with inodine and dry dressings. How long can I expect this to go on.
Apart from that I have made amazing recovery, even managed to get to see Take That on Tuesday eve (2 weeks post op), have been more or less pain free and not taken pain relief since day 5. Its a little uncomfortable in the tummy area but nothing thats not manageable.
To all waiting for DIEP’s the anticipation is far worse than the reality.
Hi Clare, Good to hear you are doing so well! I too have problems with the lower left breast wound and am having it dressed every day. I had to have lots of dead skin cut away at the hospital and am a little disappointed to have this problem now. I too have been pain free but no way could I summon the energy to go to a concert! You are amazing
I also have pressure sores on both heels from laying inert for so long with that awful hot air blower, such fun!
I still cant get over how glam you looked a few days after your op, make up too!
Keep in touch with the progress of your problem and I will too.
I am not sure what diep is but I had tram flap recon on 7th sept and the left one is still weeping and keeps crusting over and then weeping again.my surgeon said there is no prob it will heal eventually,I had it looked at by a normal doctor and was swabbed but no infection there so am not worried. Its about 14 weeks since my op and I am wondering the same as you, how long is it going to take to heal??? Time will tell,
How are you going with your wound problem now? Its just gone 3 weeks since my op and the left breast has opened underneath, 6" long and 1" wide! I am tired of having it dressed and it seems to keep on bleeding though they tell me its healthy bright red blood! I dont know how long its going to take to heal and they said I could have a skin graft if neccessary. The other breast and tum are healing brilliantly pleased to say. Hope you are doing better Clare. Also, you know how we thought having both done at the same time would mean a perfect match? Wrong! Lol
