Hi Everyone, having single mastectomy with diep in a few weeks, starting to worry about post surgery, I’m 55 and I first thought my decision was to have mastectomy without any reconstruction however after seeing Plastic Surgeon I then changed my mind to have diep. I had a double hernia repair back in June (inguinal and femoral) which tool a while for me to recover from, got seroma from the hernia repairs. I am now starting to wonder if I have made the right decision to have diep. I am worried about the procedure and post surgery. I don’t feel strong enough. I am now just thinking the mastectomy will be my better option. I am waiting for CT result of abdomen and will then speak to surgeon re results of this, I just feel so anxious about the whole thing x

Hi @mitch2 . I haven’t had this op myself but I know people who have and it is quite a lengthy recovery .Do you have a breast care nurse you could contact to discuss this to try and help you with your decision ?
There are also the Breast Cancer Now nurses on the helpline who are great to talk things through with .
