DIEP at the Royal Marsden (Chelsea)

Hi, I saw the Plastic Surgeon yesterday and he says he can do the bilateral reconstruction using my tummy so as well as new breasts I’ll get a tummy tuck too!!! However I’ll probably end up a cup size smaller but with a nice flat tummy!!! The surgery will take anything from 8-15 hours which is scary to say the least .

I don’t have a surgery date yet as I have to go back next Monday to have photos taken and to see the Plastic Surgeon again as he likes to see everybody twice to make sure they’re 100% happy with what’s being done. I didn’t catch his name but my husband thought it sounded like Mr Farfalle!!!

Has anybody else had the same surgery at the Royal Marsden? What should I expect afterwards? Critical Care? HDU? What ward did you end up on?

I was initially told by Miss MacNeill that I wouldn’t have enough tummy and she was recommending implants but I guess those plastic surgeons see us differently!!

Trudie.

Nice to read from u again. I was there on Monday, they had a full clinic. they were running 1 hour behind. I used to be a D cup. But my new breast is now a C cup. I was told that I will have it adjusted when i come in later to do the nipple. Good luck on Monday and don’t fail to ask me any questions if u need to.
