Hi. I started abemaciclib in March and saw a plastic surgeon today who suggested DIEP if I wanted reconstruction. He said I’d need to stop the abemaciclib for 2 weeks before and about 4 weeks after. Had anyone else had surgery on abemaciclib and will stopping after my cancer treatment. Or is it better to wait the 2 years.
Hi, I had my implants changed last year whilst on abemaciclib. I came off it for a month before had at the request of plastic surgery and for a month afterwards. Stopping and starting didn’t really causee me any problems. I don’t think there is any real issue in stopping from a cancer prevention perspective so long as you start again, but your onc. may be able to advise. Take care
