Hello I have been offered a mastectomy and diep reconstruction following many years of painful lymphoedema and angiokeratoma as a result of radiotherapy.
Is there anyone who can talk me through it all and experiences thanks

Hi welcome to the forum , it may also be worth posting in the surgery section of the forum , there are lots of people on the forum who’ve been through this type of surgery .

Thanks for posting. It sounds as if you’ve had a difficult time following your radiotherapy treatment.
You are welcome to call our helpline where one of our team can talk you through what a DIEP reconstruction involves and answer any questions you may have. Your call will be confidential, and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks. The number is 0808 800 6000, (Relay UK -prefix 18001).
Your breast care nurse will also be able to talk you through what is involved, answer any questions and may be able to show you some pictures of people who have had this type of surgery.
Talking to someone who has had a similar surgery can also often be helpful. Although the circumstances may be different, our Someone Like Me service can match you with a trained volunteer who’s had a mastectomy and DIEP reconstruction. You can be in touch with your volunteer by phone or email for them to answer your questions, offer support or simply listen.
You can ring the Someone Like Me team on 0114 263 6490 or email them at someone.likeme@breastcancernow.org, so they can then match you to your volunteer.
As Jill1998 has suggested you can also post and hear from other people by posting on this section of the forum.
Keeping Abreast is an organisation offering information and support to people having breast reconstruction which you may also find helpful.
As we have said above, you are welcome to call our helpline. The helpline team have time to listen to your concerns, talk things through and signpost you to more support and information.
